Hello Wifu! Overall you've done a fantastic job so I don't have much to say! In general you've shown to have approached all the wheels very carefully and with a lot of patience, and you've shown to have a very good understanding of the lesson.

Starting on the construction of them, you've made a good use of the ellipse guides to build the initial forms, and the smaller forms you drew manually are also very believable and solid, so nothing to comment on them!

About the textures themselves like I said you did a great job overall, the only thing with them is that on a few cases you got a bit confused and drew form shadows as well as the cast shadows. As you know you should only draw cast shadows whenever drawing textures. Here's one wheel on which you had trouble, I marked the form shadow on pink and the cast shadow (the only part we should draw) on green.

Either way overall you do a pretty good job on this, so i'm just nitpicking, so don't worry too much about it, just try to keep being aware of it specially when you get to lesson 7 if you do choose to add textures to your vehicles.

That being said, like I said earlier you've done a great job, so I'll mark this as complete. Don't forget to ask any questions you might have and good luck on lesson 7, keep up the good work!

Next Steps:

lesson 7

Thanks for taking the time to critique my work! I agree with the points you've raised but it turns out the tire you pointed out was the result of me messing up the tire pattern/shadow and used heavier shadows as an excuse to cover up those mistakes. I guess I shouldn't have done that. I am being more careful about how to approach it and still learning new things every time. Again thanks for your critique. It's very helpful. I'll definitely ensure not to fall into that trap for any reason.

Yup, like I said I was nitpicking; you did great overall, that's why I said I thought you had a good grasp of the concepts of the lesson, but figured out I'd point it out either way so you had something to read haha!

No worries and good luck with lesson 7, you're almost finished!

Thanks, I'm looking forward to it!

Color and Light by James Gurney

Color and Light by James Gurney

Some of you may remember James Gurney's breathtaking work in the Dinotopia series. This is easily my favourite book on the topic of colour and light, and comes highly recommended by any artist worth their salt. While it speaks from the perspective of a traditional painter, the information in this book is invaluable for work in any medium.
