Lesson 1: Lines, Ellipses and Boxes
11:44 PM, Wednesday August 19th 2020
I am left-handed, don't know if that's important. But yeah, first time doing this, I had a good time. I'm open to any criticism to help me grow! :)
Thank you for your time.
Lines
In the ghosted lines you overshoot multiple times and this is also seen in the ghosted planes exercies, try lifting your pen when you reach your endpoint. There's also some wobbliness in your lines particularly in the ghosted planes exercise, and this is shown particularly in the organic, I'm guessing that since you focus on accuracy you lost confidence. Focus on confidence first I rather have strong solid lines that overshoot in rough perspective than shaky lines in organic perspective
Ellipses
Your ellipses are very good, they're confident and smooth, ngl kinda jealous
Boxes
Most of the issues are described in lines. In rotated boxes you drew one too many boxes on the horizontal and vertical axis so it kinda looks stretched out(without it the rotated boxes exercise is good)
Overall
Good work, just remember to focus on confidence even if it means overshooting your lines
Next Steps:
250 box challenge, warmup each session with some ghosted lines and you'll be perfect. Keep it up!!
A lot of my students use these. The last time I used them was when I was in high school, and at the time I felt that they dried out pretty quickly, though I may have simply been mishandling them. As with all pens, make sure you're capping them when they're not in use, and try not to apply too much pressure. You really only need to be touching the page, not mashing your pen into it.
In terms of line weight, the sizes are pretty weird. 08 corresponds to 0.5mm, which is what I recommend for the drawabox lessons, whereas 05 corresponds to 0.45mm, which is pretty close and can also be used.
