Lesson 1: Lines, Ellipses and Boxes
11:15 AM, Tuesday February 1st 2022
Hello,
I'm new to Drawabox and I'm really excited to be able to finally submit the lesson 1 homework.
I have been a "self-taught" artist for many, many years. I've actually purposefully avoided any sort of formal teaching (books or classes or anything else), thinking something along the lines of "I have no intention of being a professional artist, why waste time learning this stuff when I can get better just by practicing?". Well, maybe I did get "better" at drawing what I wanted, but I've also found that this mindset has some serious limits, which is why I've finally decided to look for online drawing courses and start from zero. I discovered Drawabox by chance, and it turned out to be hard, tedious, focused on boring repetitive exercises rather than the fun stuff: in short, exactly what I was looking for! Really, every thing you wrote on lesson 0 really resonated with me, and I can't thank you enough for putting all that effort and energy into making those lessons available.
Anyway, here's the homework. It was definitively challenging, and I had to stop myself from scrapping the pages and starting everything over many times. For the last assignment, organic perspective, I drew through the boxes. I did it mechanically at first until I realized it wasn't part of the instructions. But then, I didn't find any instruction that said not to do it, so I kept going. I hope it's OK.
Thanks in advance for your feedback!
