hello

congrats on completing lesson 1. i'll be handeling your critique of this section.

lines

starting with the superimposed lines, the mark making looks confident and it will continue to improve over time with practice. you seem to be keeping fraying mostly towards the end and minimal at the beginning which is good. what must be called out here is that there's quite a bit of arching in most of the lines. to avoid this try to conciously arch in the opposite direction.

in the ghosted lines section the lines have a bit of wobbliness and arching. this can be lessened by rotating your page, using the shoulder pivot each time and also ghosting in the opposite direction (of an arch). it's mentioned in this part of the lesson.

with the ghosted planes you're clearly plotting each lines with the dots. however, the previous issues are also appearing here but , this will also improve with the technique mentioned above.

ellipses

tables of ellipses - you did a good attempt in keeping most of the elliptical forms even but the narrower ones turned out a bit deformed at times. try to go over with confident lines and don't draw over more than 2-3 times. you can ghost in the planning stage before making the mark on paper. what i'd also call out is that the ellipses should be placed snuggly next to each other while you are leaving some gaps between two ellipses.

the funnels turned out a bit narrow which resulted in not utilising the full page. sometimes the ellipses aren't aligned with the minor axis. other than that not much of note here. just keep in mind the method of drawing ellipses memtioned previously.

ellipses in planes, i'd say not to go over an ellipse more than 2-3 times, 2 times would be ideal. besides, some ellipses look even and have nice shapes. a few however, got slightly deformed as you tried to make them touch the edges of the planes. it is a common misconception in this section. what's the main focus should be is, drawing a nice and even elliptical form even if it doesn't make contact with the edges. you did this really well with the ellipse on the bottom right corner of the second page.

boxes

plotted perspective - in this part of lesson 1 the full excercise is to be completed with a ruler/ straight edge including the hatching lines. and try to keep the hatching evenly spaced and more neat. another thing i'd point out is the lineweight. only the outer edges of a box might have some lineweight but adding lineweight inside the box breaks the uniformity. also try not going over lines more than once.

rough perspective is one of the complex exercises to tackle, so i'd say, it's a good attempt. the horizontal lines are looking mostly parallel to the horizon. there are quite a few wobbly lines and you're drawing over some of them. that being said you will get better at those with further practice.

now for the rotated boxes you might make the boxes bigger to use the maximum space on a page. i can see the you're prioritising the rotations so great job. the way you added hatching lines on the front plane of the boxes (instead of the space between the boxes as shown in the demo ) make it a bit difficult to read. another main culprit here is drawing over lines multiple times.

in the organic perspective section you need to be plotting each line with a dot as in the ghosted method and again some of the arching and wobbliness can be seen here too as well as you seem to correct a line with drawing over it. however, with more and more practice in the future, you will become more strategic with how you place the lines and line variations. also avoid the drawovers.

overall, you seem to be doing good for the most part and these exercises will be part of the 15 minutes warm up routine, which means you will only be getting better over time. so i'd say move on to the 250 boxes challenge. good luck!
