Hey there!

I had actually started with pencil (But I soon got a finetip pen and drew everything in it). Tho there is one extra page of ghosted lines in pencil(and one page of it in pen)

My ghosted planes and ellipses in planes are actually in the same photos

Thank you for the critique!

Hi I will be doing your lesson 1 critique.

Lines

Your Superimposed lines are pretty good. You are keeping a clearly defined starting point with all of your wavering at the opposite end. Your ghosted lines and planes turned out pretty solid . You are using the ghosting method to good effect to get confident linework.Good job on this one.

Ellipses

Now there are some problems with this one.Mainly when drawing trough an ellipse try drawing trough it just 2-3 times so that it dosent get confusing. Some of the ellipses are a bit wobbly and some dont touch the corners of the panel or are drawn trough too many times to the point where its just a redone ellipse. https://imgur.com/a/g0jBSIM Its not all of theme some are really goo and smooth but it does happen way too many times that it becomes an issue.Other than that the rest is good.

Boxes

Plotted perspective is pretty good, nothing to say here.Rough perspective is also really well done same for the rotated boxes.Organic perspective is also very confident and clean one minor mistake I want to point out is that there are some boxes that repeat too much https://imgur.com/a/dUzPnxe . Its not that much of a mistake just try to be more divers with your boxes next time.

Overall this is pretty good submission the only thing you have an issue with are ellipses. Mainly you go trough them too much so they became redone. This is pretty common but remember that In drawabox you should always prioritize confidence over accuracy and dont let fear win you over.

Next Steps:

1 page of tables of ellipses

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

Great job on this one.In the future try making all of your ellipses look like this since this was a common error in your work.Add lesson 1 to your warm up pool and good luck with 250 box challenge!

Steven Zapata's Secrets of Shading

Some of you will have noticed that Drawabox doesn't teach shading at all. Rather, we focus on the understanding of the spatial relationships between the form we're drawing, which feeds into how one might go about applying shading. When it comes time to learn about shading though, you're going to want to learn it from Steven Zapata, hands down.

Take a look at his portfolio, and you'll immediately see why.
