Hi, here are my lesson 1 exercises. Some of them look kinda like they've been made digitally, but I just scanned them.

My lines aren't as straight as I would like them to be, but I probably just need more practice and focus when drawing them. It's also hard for me to draw ellpises in defined space, but I try to practice that when I do warm-ups. Rotated boxes exercise was the hardest for me and it's looks so messy, but it was supposed to be hard, so I hope it's fine.

Anyway, I would really appreciate if someone took their time to critique my work. Thank you in andvance if anyone decides to do that.

hello I'm lia and I'm here to review your DAB submission! I'll be going through the pages in sections :). so let's start with the line section.

lines:

superimposed:

they seem to be steady and confident but I see some slight fraying in the end, winch is actually pretty common, thing for newbies, so no need to beat yourself for that, but make sure to keep your hand steady through out.

ghosted lines:

they seem pretty Good, no real wobbling I can see and they clearly are ghosted and come from different angles and positions. Good job!

ghosted planes:

your ghosted planes seem perfectly acceptable, I can see you set the dots to plan them through and I only see a slight wobble there and there bit otherwise, good job.

ellipses:

The tables are pretty Good! I see they are snug and I only see a slight bit of overlap of the ellipses there and there and one or two have a pretty clear gap, otherwise most are correct.

I don't see much wrong in the ghosted ellipses either, the lines are steady and the planes are at many different angles and the ellipses are drawn properly.

The funnels look pretty great, I can see a clear line ( minor axis) dividing the middle pretty nicely in two halves and the ellipses are drawn pretty snug without as much overlapping compared to the tables so I see a improvement there.

boxes:

your plotted perspective seems nice, I can see the boxes all coming towards two clear vanishing points, so you achieved the purpose well.

your rough perspective seems nice! The boxes all go towards the horizon rather then the vanishing point winch is a lot tougher then it looks ( I had to redo this exercise myself) but I do see a slight unsteady wobble there and one of the boxes has a somewhat arched angle, but other then that it's not too bad and I don't think it warrants a redo.

on your rotated perspective/ boxes I can see you did a largely great job rotating the boxes and using the boxes you did as a guide to where to rotate, even if on the left it doesn't rotate as perfectly as in the right. however I was told and experienced that this is one of the harsher exercises to do on this whole lesson and you just going through it is something! other then that you had a better time with it then myself.

your organic perspective is also Good, you seem to have a grasp how to draw and shift the boxes to follow along the line of sight and the boxes are drawn rather nice and steady.

I'll give you a completed!

Next Steps:

Good job and good luck with the 250 box challenge pre lesson 2

Thank you so much for your critique! I thought I would have to wait much longer and found out today that you did it :)

The Science of Deciding What You Should Draw

The Science of Deciding What You Should Draw

Right from when students hit the 50% rule early on in Lesson 0, they ask the same question - "What am I supposed to draw?"

It's not magic. We're made to think that when someone just whips off interesting things to draw, that they're gifted in a way that we are not. The problem isn't that we don't have ideas - it's that the ideas we have are so vague, they feel like nothing at all. In this course, we're going to look at how we can explore, pursue, and develop those fuzzy notions into something more concrete.
