25 Wheel Challenge

I'm back , and with questions at that,my apologies if this gets too long.
Before that , I have a couple notes about the submission:
-
I lost most of the references , I have no idea how that happened, and i couldn't find most of them due to me going through loops on websites to find them, i apologize in advance if this causes trouble.
-
My ellipse guide seems very small , although i have nothing to compare it to, but it did make texturing far more tedious than usual.
Now , onto the questions , they're about some wheels specifically
-
On wheel 8, in regards to that shadow inside the wheel , would that classify as form shading or a cast shadow? The wheel is casting a shadow onto itself, or is it just... absence of light , if that makes sense? for some reason this really confuses me
-
when drawing the tread's silhouette, using 18 and 8 as an example, wouldn't outlining the form make it explicit markmaking?
-
In cases like rubber,or any smooth surface really, is it possible to texture it,even if there's barely any form to cast a shadow?
Now, i have a confession to make,or worry,if you could call it that;
During the whole course, while i didn't grind any lesson by practice, i most definetly went ahead and read the critiques (official and not) for other students many many many times, both for lessons i did , and ones far further down the list.
Well , this would be good and all (and it does help to cement older lessons, along with my actual critiques), but i have felt guilty about it because i've realized I did itspecifically so i could be as prepared as i could and make as few mistakes as possible.
What i mean is , i looked for "tips", things like "this lesson is a trap" and "make the bike spokes have at least a little bit of thickness instead of straight up making them lines" or "round out the mug's corners afterwards"; things which i only know from outright memorizing them, and i can hardly apply their logic in anything different.
Either way, this would classify as grinding wouldn't it? I've also read a critique where you addressed something similar in the past, about expectation , min-maxing our education, excessive theorycrafting etc.. , which is what led to me to stop looking at critiques so much , and also to writing this whole mess (which took me like an hour to write, somehow).
Also , safe to say , i was aware of the texture trap.
My apologies for the whole thing,I'll refrain from any such posts in the future.
As always thank you for your time.
