Much improved, but neither quite where we want them, just yet. The ellipses have confidence issues, still (they’re wobbly), an indication that you’re too concerned with whether they’re snug against the frame, not enough with whether they’re smooth, and rounded. You’ve also not drawn through them a full 2 times, but often settled for 1 and change. Essentially, you’ve gone too far in the other direction. You’ll want to strike a balance between confidence, and accuracy. The rough perspective exercise tells a similar story. Though it’s not all of them (be sure to take a break, if you feel yourself getting distracted), a lot more than in your prior attempt make an effort to converge. Linework is lacking, however. It’s important to remember that there’s no difference between these lines, and the ones in the ghosted lines exercise – the process of drawing them is the same. As such, there’s no need to get overwhelmed by the big picture; simply take things one line at a time, ghosting each one for as long as it needs. I’ll request a bit more, before having you move on.

This time I’d like you to do the same thing, but using only 1 page. So you’d split it into two parts: one for ellipses, one for boxes.

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

Good on all accounts. You'll want to continue pushing, of course, and I still see a lot of automatic reinforcing, but this is enough improvement that I feel comfortable letting you move on.

Onto the box challenge!

Faber Castell PITT Artist Pens

Like the Staedtlers, these also come in a set of multiple weights - the ones we use are F. One useful thing in these sets however (if you can't find the pens individually) is that some of the sets come with a brush pen (the B size). These can be helpful in filling out big black areas.

Still, I'd recommend buying these in person if you can, at a proper art supply store. They'll generally let you buy them individually, and also test them out beforehand to weed out any duds.
