I got this sakura pigma micron fineliner pen (05) but I'm not really sure what a fine liner even is and if this is even a fineliner can someone tell me if I'm all good to do homework?
it's also black instead of white like all the photos of it on the Internet
Sakura Micron is one of the brands we specifically mention in Lesson 0 Page 4 when discussing various brands of fineliners. You'll also find on that same page a closeup shot of a fineliner tip that you can compare to the pen you've got.
It should be fine, but without seeing a photo of the pen itself I can't confirm for sure, given what you mentioned about it being black instead of white (Sakura Microns are usually a tan colour, at least from what I've seen), so I'm not sure what you mean there.
On our discord chat server we have a channel, #drawabox-pens, where students can share photos of their pens to double check the type of pen they've got. That may be helpful to you.
Like the Staedtlers, these also come in a set of multiple weights - the ones we use are F. One useful thing in these sets however (if you can't find the pens individually) is that some of the sets come with a brush pen (the B size). These can be helpful in filling out big black areas.
Still, I'd recommend buying these in person if you can, at a proper art supply store. They'll generally let you buy them individually, and also test them out beforehand to weed out any duds.
