The flames are rad! Is that watercolour?
Oh thanks for the comment. They are called "Caran d'Ache Classic Neocolor II AQUARELLE Water-Soluble Pastels, 40 Colors." (Amazon description). They are basically crayons. I decided to try them for this season's prompt-a-thon.
I'm very new to art so "mixed media" was totally new to me. Apparently you just draw with them like a normal crayon, and then you add water later and the "wax" just melts and turns into something like water color.
They are really fun to use.

While it speaks from the perspective of a traditional painter, the information in this book is invaluable for work in any medium.
