Here is my complete Lesson 1! Worked about 3 Days on it. Any critique would be appreciated.

Here is my self critique - If i focus on vanishing points my line work is a mess. Too much concepts at the same time cloud my brain and make my hand very nervous. Also I have not found my speed for markmaking yet.

For finding your speed for mark making try to make a line with a bit of speed in it, then when try to slow it down a bit and see if it feels right or not. Using implied lines helped me find my comfort in making my marks. You don't want to go too slow as it can make wobbles in your line works. Anyways for the critique.

Imposed lines: They feel confident don't seem to wobble, except for the longer lines towards the bottom, try keeping your shoulder as relaxed as possible so that it won't affect the quality of the line work and try to find comfortable angles to draw with. Other than that, you don't seem to fray at the beginning which is a good thing.

Ghosted lines: Very confident and very accurate, however you don't want to use x's instead of dots as it is not as easy to cover the x's with just one ghosted line. You'd also want to keep the dots small so that if the lines connect both ends, both dots are covered by the ghosted line.

Planes: They appear to be very accurate and the intersections cross accurately as well. However, you should try out different angles so that it doesn't feel that you are repeating the same plane over and over again.

And finally your table of ellipsis, they feel confident and well done, just remember to stay consistent with the degree of the ellipse.

That's as much as I can crit. for now, but have a nice day!

beautiful work. You need to draw through things, which you didn't do in some exercises, but other than that great. I'll mark this as complete.

Next Steps:

Go to the 250 box challenge.

Color and Light by James Gurney

Color and Light by James Gurney

Some of you may remember James Gurney's breathtaking work in the Dinotopia series. This is easily my favourite book on the topic of colour and light, and comes highly recommended by any artist worth their salt. While it speaks from the perspective of a traditional painter, the information in this book is invaluable for work in any medium.
