I'm sorry but there is no way you could actually pass this lesson. You didn't take them seriously at all (boobs, really?) and obviously didn't read the instructions carefully. I get it, these lessons are not super fun, but if you don't follow them properly there is no point in doing them at all.

Next Steps:

I would recommend about restarting the lesson from scratch, this time with no doodling and following the instructions (https://drawabox.com/lesson/0/2/50percent here's the explanation on why you shouldn't doodle when you are doing these exercises). However, I know restarting EVERYTHING is a pain. I guess you could keep the organic intersections and the dissections. But definitely redo the rest.

geez someone is mad. looking at other peoples work id say it looks fairly similar. seeing as iv never drawn once in my entire life before this. Im not gonna redraw the boring first steps.I followed the instructions... it jut looks like shits. and why not boobs? boobs are jsut a specific type of blob. ive followed the istructions.

I definitely did took it seriously. i just kinda got lost after doing the excercise. as i said. i know i doodle too much. some one complained about it. but i do that after the excercise when the paper is just laying their like a slut wanting to be drawn on.

and whats wrong with my textures,?not whats bad with them but from a folowing the instructions way ive defintely havent done badly.

Hahaha sorry if I seemed mad. But you definitely didn't follow the instructions. Why not boobs? Because boobs aren't enclosed forms like sausages are.

Let me make myself clear: I'm not criticizing the FINAL QUALITY of your work. What's wrong with your textures? You definitely didn't cram as much detail as you could in the squares in the left, you scratched and hatched (which is a major mistake), they are too simplistic (literally more than half the space is blank).

It's okay if you don't want to redraw them. You do you I guess. But if you actually want to learn from these lessons you should.

Are you even following the 50% rule? I get that you want to have fun and doodle. But don't to it in these pages. Do it separately. This kind of mixed practice ends up with you neither enjoying the doodling nor learning effectively.

Next Steps:

d.

Im happy with my final two excersices. the beginning of lesson 2 was very tedious and it took me over 3 weeks to finish the textured blobs. so at some point i did hurridly finish it as to not get too stuck.. sacrificing practice and knowledge for motivation.

Ive heard about this 50% rules 5 times now. im guessing its something he talks about at the beginning which ive forgotten. is this some fogmatic mantra instilled in ever Drawabox aprentice? Is this some vital tule ive missed ?

Edit: TL:DR I have severe problems with motivation. rarely do anything out of own volition and doing lessons and tasks is a way to learn a skill i never thought i could. (im not creative ) I have hours upon hours ahead to make up for the 50% rule.

I have no critique as i haven't gotten to lesson 2 yet but you need to do the 250 box challenge first before lesson 2 as it helps with line confidence and understanding the 3d space. If you have done that you need to post it as it may help people critiquing your work what you still need help with. Also as the other person said don't goof around too much as it won't help you learn any concrete skills and wont help you develop that confidence you need for your future lessons (50 percent rule.)

I know you've taken this to learn how to draw but if your not serious about it you won't be able to take in the info that will be needed in future lessons that could use things that you've learned from past lessons. I would also say to redo it and make sure to do the 250 box challenge after you finish lesson 1 again. Learn well, Stay serious, Stay Committed. Good Luck!!

Next Steps:

Read lesson 0 again and reread and redo lesson 1. Also don't forget about the 250 box challenge after.

What is this 50% rule people are so religioous about? I put time and effort into the hard and fun parts. and the boring parts in the beginning i might have interpreted my way. Boobs are one form of blob. and ive done what i was instructed to do.

I need to have some fun in the meanwhile. I know my arrows are shit. i was a bit tired from last lesson. But im decently happy with textures and forwards.

It's alright to have fun when drawing but try not to sketch on your homework. The 50 percent rule isn't something that we just worship and praise its something we do so we can still have fun drawing what we want but also do the lessons without any extra doodles or sketches so we can stay focused. I'm not very good at explaining it so go back and read what it's about. https://drawabox.com/lesson/0/2/50percent and also try to re read the rest of lesson 0 as well. The stuff in their can really help us understand what drawabox is about.

oh. hehe.

I see what the fuzz is about then. I have not drawn much at all. I have quite severe problems with motivation so ive been focusing on doing the lessons. Which can often take over a month to complete.

I have not had a single tought off drawing anything else and what motivation i do get is to finish another task and see some improvement. I rarely do things for the sake of endogenous motivation and want.

I have many hours of drawing jack shit infront of me if im to catch up with that rule.

The Art of Brom

The Art of Brom

Here we're getting into the subjective - Gerald Brom is one of my favourite artists (and a pretty fantastic novelist!). That said, if I recommended art books just for the beautiful images contained therein, my list of recommendations would be miles long.

The reason this book is close to my heart is because of its introduction, where Brom goes explains in detail just how he went from being an army brat to one of the most highly respected dark fantasy artists in the world today. I believe that one's work is flavoured by their life's experiences, and discovering the roots from which other artists hail can help give one perspective on their own beginnings, and perhaps their eventual destination as well.
