Lesson 1: Lines, Ellipses and Boxes

I had to do it in ballpoint pen sorry.
Hey Mangler,
Congrats on completing Lesson 1. Here are my thoughts on your submission:
Superimposed Lines Your lines are fraying a bit. This might be due to the pen though..
Ghosted Lines Slightly wobbly, but overall pretty decent line quality.
Table of Ellipses To much wobble. Remember to tilt the page to your favorite setting. And remember to draw from your shoulder.
Ellipses in Planes Planes are fine but your ellipses are deformed. I fear that you are obsessing over touching all edges instead of trusting your ghosting method. Better to overshoot all edges than loose confidence in lines (first eliminate wobble, than improve accuracy and consistency)
Funnels Not sure whether you understood the exercise. The further away you go from the center (the y-axis) your ellipses should be getting larger (keeping up with edges).
Maybe allow yourself some(just a little) elbow support, so your hand isn't completely in air, but also not fully fixed. This might make your lines more consistent. Maybe also try drawing on a tilted surface. And keep in mind to draw from your shoulder.
Rough Perspective The second page is much better, your line quality is also improving.
Rotated Boxes a bit messy but overall not the worst.
Organic Perspective best line quality I've see from you so far.
Next Steps:
250 Boxes.
find a suitable setting (posture, angle of approach, right angle for tilting the page)
Practise some ghosted lines for about 10 minutes before drawing, this should get you started.
This recommendation is really just for those of you who've reached lesson 6 and onwards.
I haven't found the actual brand you buy to matter much, so you may want to shop around. This one is a "master" template, which will give you a broad range of ellipse degrees and sizes (this one ranges between 0.25 inches and 1.5 inches), and is a good place to start. You may end up finding that this range limits the kinds of ellipses you draw, forcing you to work within those bounds, but it may still be worth it as full sets of ellipse guides can run you quite a bit more, simply due to the sizes and degrees that need to be covered.
No matter which brand of ellipse guide you decide to pick up, make sure they have little markings for the minor axes.
