It's similar to what is shown here, in that it strays from the vanishing point, which it will do, since it's highlighting an error in the way you've drawn your ellipse compared to the true minor axis (the one that you draw through the middle of the box). If you mean that it's not connecting back to the minor axis line you drew, then yeah, I probably should've when I drew the example.

Thanks! ok from my understanding now theres two verisons (?) of the minor axis.

1) The minor axis splits the 2D ellipse into two equal, symmetrical halves, down its narrowest dimension

2) The minor axis can be drawn as a line running through the center/spine of the 3D cylinder.

and for the cylinder checking we are using #1? and ignore #2?

When you draw the cylinder, you should be doing your best to align to the correct minor axis line in #1. When you check your cylinders, you identify the line that actually splits your ellipse in half, as in #2.

The rest looks okay to me. I got about halfway through my cylinders in boxes before I even realised I needed to check the minor axis, because the page doesn't really show it well. May be something worth suggesting to Uncomfortable to clarify, because I thought I was just dumb, but if it's confusing other people as well... :)

im still struggling to understand haha.... I did ask a bit about it but in the end I still couldnt get it around my head. if its not too much trouble (no worries if you dont want to) would you be Okay showing how you did it step by step with video or ?

i think actually seeing someone elses attempt/how they did it, it will possible help me a lot.

thanks so much for trying to help me!

It's also more than that - it's a hand-picked recommendation of something I've used myself. If you're interested, here is a full list.

Like the Staedtlers, these also come in a set of multiple weights - the ones we use are F. One useful thing in these sets however (if you can't find the pens individually) is that some of the sets come with a brush pen (the B size). These can be helpful in filling out big black areas.

Still, I'd recommend buying these in person if you can, at a proper art supply store. They'll generally let you buy them individually, and also test them out beforehand to weed out any duds.
