Hello! I'm Simon and will attempt to review your Lesson 5 :)

First of all great job on your organic intersections you really managed to show their weight and volume and your lines are super clean so nothing to add there :)

Moving on to the animals you made sure to draw the major masses first before adding smaller masses to these to get a better detailed view of the animal great job!

Your leg and feet construction also seem perfect

Your face construction don't exactly follow the template shown in the Lesson with for example your crocodile or Rhino where you took some liberty but you still relied on basic forms at first to build upon them and it works really well so as long as it works for you that's fine.

Your last animal the 'mix' between different ones has a correct construction overall so that's nice the only thing would be the front legs, I'm pretty sure they're fine but it's just the perspective on them is a bit confusing so some lines to show that the right one (left one of the animal) is going back would help the viewer since right now they look a little weird but maybe you had a ref and it's just me so idk.

And finally a little point on texture, your fur textures on the bear etc and your feathers on the duck are really well made! I can see that you took the time to draw every stroke. For the crocodile I think you'll agree with me it's still really good but could be improved, I think if you drew a little less texture and relied a little more on the silhouette like with your other animals it would've been a little better and also I'd like to see you try to work on a bit more complex textures like for the Rhino or Shark I think it would be a nice challenge for you in the future :) maybe you can try to tackle them in the 25 texture challenge I'll let you figure it out.

In any case you did a really great job overall!

Don't forget to add this exercise to your warm ups pool and if you find some spare time to go review one or two Lessons 4 or before that. And also to do your 50/50 rule obviously!

After that feel free to move on to the 250 Cylinder challenge:) Good luck!

Thanks a lot for the critique mate! Really love your observations and I'm glad that you think I did alright :). I'll make sure to follow your advice in future entries.

Marco Bucci's Getting Started with Digital Painting

Marco Bucci's got a ton of great courses available on proko.com, including some of the best videos you can find on using colour and light. Since a lot of our students want to break into working with digital painting however, I thought this course in particular would be a great start to get into the weeds with how to navigate the confusing world of layers, brushes, and more.

This course highlights programs across the full spectrum of options, ranging from the current industry standard Adobe Photoshop, to the Free-and-Open-Source darling Krita, as well as the mobile favourite, Procreate.
