Please check it out when you have the time! Don't be afraid to be brutally honest.
Hello Kensa here's my critique:
1)Lines
your lines look fine to me in general, some do need more ghosting tho (for example in your superimposed lines in the first page there's a curved line in the bottom right that needs more ghosting and in the second page there's a straight line on the middle left that also could have used some more ghosting imho). But in general you did a good job!
2)Ellipses
your ellipses in planes also need more ghosting because some of them go beyond the planes, although they have a nice flow so good job on that!
tables of ellipses looks fine to me
some lines of the funnels exercise are off center.
3) Boxes
Generally this entire part seems well done to me.
The part that has some flaws is the rough perspective one, but in my opinion it is quite difficult to do, anyway a part for one or two boxes almost every extension line got quite close to the vanishing point.
excuse me if I can't provide a more adequate critique but in general i'd say you've done well.
Next Steps:
I think you did pretty well and that you are ready for the 250 boxes challenge, take your time and don't stress too much about it, pick some of this lesson's exercises to warm up before drawing some boxes and also draw for fun, it can get a bit frustrating to draw only boxes for a month.
Here we're getting into the subjective - Gerald Brom is one of my favourite artists (and a pretty fantastic novelist!). That said, if I recommended art books just for the beautiful images contained therein, my list of recommendations would be miles long.
The reason this book is close to my heart is because of its introduction, where Brom goes explains in detail just how he went from being an army brat to one of the most highly respected dark fantasy artists in the world today. I believe that one's work is flavoured by their life's experiences, and discovering the roots from which other artists hail can help give one perspective on their own beginnings, and perhaps their eventual destination as well.
