Thank you for looking over these. I believe all of the boxes are directly added but I have links to imgur below if that's easier. There's a set of boxes that got misnumbered in the 150-200 set that got fixed by box 200.

I'll take any advice on how to improve so feel free!

For the first 50, your lines are clean overall. However, I did see some arcing throughout the set. I also saw a few instances where lines appeared to be redrawn, like box 18 and box 31. Your convergences also show good accuracy, though I did see some lines pair off and converge towards two vanishing points, like in box 9's green lines, box 23's purple lines, and box 46's purple lines.

For the next 50, your lines show improvement, with less dramatic arcing overall. I also saw fewer instances of redrawn lines, like box 85. Your convergences also show improvement in accuracy, though there are a few more instances of lines pairing off, like box 54's red lines, box 74's purple lines, and box 91's red lines.

For the last 150, your lines continue to improve, with arcing further reduced. While some was still present at the end, your work shows good technique and consistency. I also saw very few instances of redrawn lines, though there were a few at the end like box 202 and box 240. Remember that, for this challenge, it's better to have one smooth, confident line than to try to fix it by redrawing.

Your convergences also continue to improve, though there are still instances of lines pairing off, like in box 108's purple lines, box 185's green lines, and box 221's green lines. In these boxes, the inner lines (green and orange in this diagram) diverge instead of converging at the vanishing point. Keeping in mind the angles of neighboring lines can help when planning the box's construction.

As an aside, box 154 is missing some line extensions. It's not an issue since it only happened once, but I wanted to point it out for future reference.

All said, you did very well. I'm going to mark this challenge as complete.

Next Steps:

Continue on to Lesson 2, and add rotated boxes with line extensions in the style of the last 150 to your warm-up exercise pool.

This critique marks this lesson as complete.

Thank you for the feedback!

I wanted to ask if you noticed there was a particular type of box you thought I should get more practice with going forward with my warmups. Or if there was anything in particular I should be focus on improving from this exercise.

On the whole, I think both rapid and gradual foreshortening were about even. When doing warm-ups, I might alternate and do one page of rapid, then a page of gradual. As for what to focus on, of course you want to ensure that your technique remains good. For the convergences, try to keep in mind where all four lines in a set (including those you haven't drawn yet) should be going. That will help you build better accuracy.

As for diverging lines, I do have a rule of thumb for telling if a particular instance is a concern: If the lines pair off because the back corner is off, but the other three lines converge well, don't worry about it. If they pair off because both inner lines are off, keep that in mind for the next box. The back corner will always be a bit off since it's the last point placed, so don't worry about it.

Marshall Vandruff's Perspective Course

Marshall Vandruff's Perspective Course

Marshall Vandruff is a ubiquitous name in art instruction - not just through his work on the Draftsmen podcast and his other collaborations with Proko, but in his own right. He's been teaching anatomy, gesture, and perspective for decades, and a number of my own friends have taken his classes at the Laguna College of Art and Design (back around 2010), and had only good things to say about him. Not just as an instructor, but as a wonderful person as well.

Many of you will be familiar with his extremely cheap 1994 Perspective Drawing lectures, but here he kicks it up to a whole new level.
