Lesson 1: Lines, Ellipses and Boxes
9:38 PM, Sunday July 19th 2020
Finally got it done. (whoo)
Lines: There's some wobble in your lines, try to be more confident when drawing the lines, that accuracy will come with practice. There might be a tendancy to arching in the lines so make sure you're drawing with your shoulder.
Ellipses: Here you've focused more on staying within the bounds than drawing a confinent smooth ellipse. Try ghosting your ellipses before drawing them and just go for it when you started.
Rough perspective: Some of the boxes does not have one point perspective, meaning that the horizontal line is not parallel to the horizon and the vertical line is not perpendicular to the horizon. Also try to take a bit nore time ghosting back to the VP to get the right angle of the line to avoid guessing.
Rotated boxes: Some of the boxes aren't rotated,
Organic perspective: You missed some perspective, but nothing to worry about as you'll work on it in 250 boxes challenge.
Good job overall. Be specially careful about the wobbly lines, remember, confidence over accuracy.
Next Steps:
Continue to use these exercises as part of your warm ups (about 10-15 minutes)
Feel free to move onto the 250 box challenge
Don’t forget to take breaks and draw for fun!
Also, now that you’ve completed Lesson 1, I encourage you to critique some Lesson 1 community submissions. Not only will this help the community, but it will also solidify and reinforce your understanding of the material. Of course, this is optional (but we’d be especially grateful!). If you’d like to give it a shot, see this guide that was created by one of our community members on how to go about critiquing Lesson 1.

These are my favourite sketchbooks, hands down. Move aside Moleskine, you overpriced gimmick. These sketchbooks are made by entertainment industry professionals down in Los Angeles, with concept artists in mind. They have a wide variety of sketchbooks, such as toned sketchbooks that let you work both towards light and towards dark values, as well as books where every second sheet is a semitransparent vellum.
