hello there,
welcome to drawabox,
i'm sorry you had to wait for months to get your work critiqued, so lets go forward now,
lines : I recommend you to read about the superimposed lines again. wobblylines. This is the foremost mistake you have done. dont draw from your wrists, Draw from your shoulder. ghost your lines before drawing them. Prioritize confidence of line over accuracy here. The ghosted lines is okay, though a little weak, it should be fine as you keep practising them. The planes are much better. and looks confident.
Ellipses : The lines feels quite stiff. Let your lines flow with confidence as you draw them with shoulder and ghosting them. Though, the ellipses arent very perfectly snuggly fitted, i see the attempt here, so its alright. try to snuggly fit them as much as possible. On top left row of second page in table ellipses, you have drawn through the ellipse just once, that is a clear mistake there. Draw through the ellipses twice or thrice. it helps to buildup muscle memory and is rewarding in long run. I dont think the funnel exercise was supposed to be drawn that way, you are supposed to draw two side curves with the help of circular object and draw ellipses in between based on those guide curves. They align to the minor axis well and it almost cuts them in symmetry halves. The ellipse in funnels , feels stiff too. the ellipses in planes are fine. you can do better with time and practice.
Boxes : pretty neat plotted perspective. I suppose you forgot the hatching lines ? Rough perspective is fine too. The lines have ocassional wobbles here as well . You will get to experiment with perspective more in upcoming lessons. about the rotated box, You havent drawn through the boxes in the top right corner. Drawing the backward lines of box is very essential as it helps you to relate to 3D space.https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/17/notdrawingthrough. Your boxes are more on converging side than rotating. The area of plane facing us gets compressed vertically as it faces farther away from us. https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/17/notrotating . the organic perspective is fine, the only problem it has is its lines. You are supposed to apply what you learnt in previous exercises here too.
Next Steps:
-a page of superimposed lines. ( Go through the lesson again and do it the right way)
- a page of oganic perspective (with lines that are drawn with intent and shows confidence which can only be acquired through ghosting)
i'll mark your lesson complete after i view your work.
Staedtler Pigment Liners
These are what I use when doing these exercises. They usually run somewhere in the middle of the price/quality range, and are often sold in sets of different line weights - remember that for the Drawabox lessons, we only really use the 0.5s, so try and find sets that sell only one size.
Alternatively, if at all possible, going to an art supply store and buying the pens in person is often better because they'll generally sell them individually and allow you to test them out before you buy (to weed out any duds).
