After a looo~oooong time it finally happened! I finished the first Lesson! :D

I feel proud and good. Took me actually I think like 3 years. I am suprised that I kept my old stuff and actually found it :P

Looking back at the old stuff, I can see quite some improvement. Looking forward to the future!

Thanks in advance for anybody who takes the time to look at my stuff and maybe even writes a word or two!

Congrats on taking your time with completing this lesson, I'll be critiquing your work.

Lines

Overall your lines are quite confident, though they arch slightly at times.

Your Superimposed Lines are great, though there are some lines that have slight fraying (though it may just be the arch of some lines, which is another issue).

Regarding your Ghosted Lines, the same issue of slight arching is in this exercise.

Your Planes are accurately divided which means you are taking the time to consider each line and using the ghosting method.

Ellipses

Your Tables of Ellipses is quite good, most ellipses fit quite snugly and do not overlap, though some do not touch as well and have some gaps that can easily be filled with smaller ellipses. I would encourage you to only do one more page filled completely, as you have demonstrated that your ellipses are all drawn with purpose.

Your Ellipses in Planes are very good, as each ellipse is gone through twice. Some are a little distorted but they fit quite nicely into the planes.

The Ellipses in your Funnels are mostly symmetrical and are quite in tandem with the axis of said funnels.

Boxes

Regarding Rough Perspective, you have done an good job aligning your lines of the boxes to the horizon, though very few of your lines fall short of wobbliness.

The Rotated Boxes challenge is quite difficult as expected, and you've done quite well, as you've shown to take the time to hatch lines within the boxes.

The Organic Perspective pages are also very good, they are densely packed with boxes and are overlapping. Your skills for this will improve greatly during the 250 boxes challenge, so do not worry too much about the rotations of your boxes.

Next Steps:

Overall, you have done very well for this lesson, all I request is that you fill one page of the Tables of Ellipses exercise, keeping in mind to fill it up entirely and make sure your ellipses and touching snugly with one another. Try not to leave gaps.

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

Thank you very, very much for taking the time to review my work!!

Yeah, still working on that arching. It's more difficult than I thought to arch the opposite direction to counter it x3

I tried to pay attention to putting the ellipses snuggly next to each other as you said. Was actually a lot of fun to do it again~ I hope it's as you expected from me!

This page is much better, and while I feel the last box could have been filled with some smaller ellipses, it's fine, as you've understood what I meant. I'll mark this as complete.

Next Steps:

250 Box Challenge

This community member feels the lesson should be marked as complete, and 2 others agree. The student has earned their completion badge for this lesson and should feel confident in moving onto the next lesson.

Thank you very much!

Yeah, now that I look at right, you are right - I gotta apologize, I rushed that last box a bit, hence forgot to think about adding some smaller ellipses.

Thanks!

Like the Staedtlers, these also come in a set of multiple weights - the ones we use are F. One useful thing in these sets however (if you can't find the pens individually) is that some of the sets come with a brush pen (the B size). These can be helpful in filling out big black areas.

Still, I'd recommend buying these in person if you can, at a proper art supply store. They'll generally let you buy them individually, and also test them out beforehand to weed out any duds.
