Lesson 1: Lines, Ellipses and Boxes

Page 2 of superimposed lines has vanished in the wind :(
If people really want I will draw another one, I guess
Hi !
I'll be critiquing your work today.
Lets start with the superimposed lines.
The first thing I noticed in your page is that the lines are wobbly, while the fraying at the ends is normal but there should not be that much wobble in the lines.
Coming to planes exercise. Your planes look pretty impressive but there is some wobble in the lines. You should also try some bigger planes but for now these are ok.
Your table of ellipses look good. One thing i like about your table of ellipses is that you have wide variations in degrees of ellipses. I don't have much to say for your ellipses, this also goes for your ellipses in planes exercise. Just work on tightening the contours of your ellipses.
Your funnels exercise was pretty amazing. Keep the good work up ????.
Plotted perspective is just as it should be one thing I noticed is that you haven't fully extended the line back to the Vp which I suggest you should do as it will help you to discover your mistakes if any down to the minute discrepancies. But it will do for now.
The rough perspective is one of my favorites from your work. Even though there is a generous amount of wobble in your lines. I see you've got a pretty good grasp of perspective.
Now, the rotating boxes exercise.
And gotta say man I was blown away by the precision it was executed. Such amazing work. I don't see that very often in lesson 1 work. Some clean line work, good hatching, you've good a good understanding of space and you've done a good job in rotating the boxes.
The organic perspective exercise is also good. Keep it up man.
Now I would say that you should really work on improving your line quality there should be minimum amount of wobble in the lines. For this you should read the section of ghosted lines once again. Try to pinpoint what is giving the problem, if you are drawing slowly try to speed up a bit, check if you are actually drawing from your shoulder, change orientation whatever works for you.
As uncomfortable mentions it a line drawn with confidence that does not touch both or one point is much better than a wobbly line. Now don't sweat about your lines. We are not here to produce perfect work. Just work on this and you'll be okay. Rome wasn't build in a day you know ????.
So I'm marking this lesson as complete and I ask you to move on to the 250 box challenge. Keep the good work up.
See you in the next section.
Next Steps:
Move on to the 250 box challenge.
Thank you for your kind words! I shall indeed keep working on my line quality, and re-read the ghosted lines section. This was really encouraging to read today!
And always remember to work on your 50% rule. It will improve you much faster than exercises.
Yessir!
Right from when students hit the 50% rule early on in Lesson 0, they ask the same question - "What am I supposed to draw?"
It's not magic. We're made to think that when someone just whips off interesting things to draw, that they're gifted in a way that we are not. The problem isn't that we don't have ideas - it's that the ideas we have are so vague, they feel like nothing at all. In this course, we're going to look at how we can explore, pursue, and develop those fuzzy notions into something more concrete.
