let's see, it's not important that you get them totally right, you just need to show that you've followed the instructions correctly
let's see, it's not important that you get them totally right, you just need to show that you've followed the instructions correctly
First revision of the 3 exercises :
Rotated box
plotted perspective
rough perspective
I don't know why you did those extra rough lines in the plotted perspective, you just needed to make the lines thicker by applying a bit more pressure on the fineliner, but it's fine
rough perspective: some lines are a bit wobbly but it's ok, try to make the lines faster, place the pen on the starting point (after doing some ghosting) and then BAM towards the destination
rotated boxes: ok here it really shows you were trying hard to be precise on some lines in fact those are very wobbly and not straight, remember to focus on straight lines rather than precise ones.
Try to place the boxes closer to each other, it will help you construct the neighbouring boxes edges, so the boxes will rotate more correctly. In fact top left box is flying away. Shading is optional, but it helped me distinguish the lines because as you draw boxes it gets hard to see which line is which etc
Overall good job :D
Next Steps:
start the box challenge
before each session try to do around 10 min of warmup exercises especially ghosted lines and super imposed lines
Also while doing the challenge don't worry if it takes you a long time to draw boxes, it's better to not rush them and carefully plan each line to get a feel for the perspective
A lot of my students use these. The last time I used them was when I was in high school, and at the time I felt that they dried out pretty quickly, though I may have simply been mishandling them. As with all pens, make sure you're capping them when they're not in use, and try not to apply too much pressure. You really only need to be touching the page, not mashing your pen into it.
On the flipside, they tend to be on the cheaper side of things, so if you're just getting started (beginners tend to have poor pressure control), you're probably going to destroy a few pens - going cheaper in that case is not a bad idea.
In terms of line weight, the sizes are pretty weird. 08 corresponds to 0.5mm, which is what I recommend for the drawabox lessons, whereas 05 corresponds to 0.45mm, which is pretty close and can also be used.
