Lesson 1: Lines, Ellipses and Boxes
3:09 AM, Friday December 1st 2023
Hi there!
Thank you in advance for taking the time to look over my work. I didn't realise until after I had completed the organice perspective exercises that we were supposed to draw them in a wireframe rather than a solid fashion. However, I do plan on doing the 250 box exercise, so hopefully this isn't too big of a deal.
I have a couple of questions you might be able to help me with:
-
As the course mandates, I have been using a 0.5mm fineliner, however I've been finding that while I can manage fairly well with drawing longer lines, that a lot of my shorter lines tend to end up messy and they generally feel too thick. I don't know whether it is just because I'm moving the pen slower, but I'd really like my smaller details to look "cleaner" or at least more smooth.
-
Likely related to the above is the fact that I've generally been struggling to vary the thickness of the line via pen pressure. I can create a slight difference, but if I remove too much pressure it feels as though my stroke is "unanchored" or harder to control if that makes any sense. Again this is something I'd love to work on, since the work I do outside of the course digitally often looks better because of the varying line weight. Although I usually achieve this by shaping the lines after the first pass, so I would really appreciate some tips here.
I look forward to hearing your feedback!
Best
Rhys
