On the second page the top and bottom left boxes have red lines that are extending in the wrong direction and every box on the 3rd page has at least one set extending incorrectly as well.

Without any numbering I unfortunately can't tell if these were the first boxes you drew and you learned how to correct the issue as you progressed or if you possibly stopped paying as close attention and your quality suffered later on.

Either way there's still room to improve so I'll be asking you to draw 5 more boxes, hopefully all 5 of them have proper line extensions and if not we can address the issue further.

Next Steps:

5 more boxes please.

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

Hello again.

Unfortunately there are still some sets of lines being extended incorrectly:

  • Green lines in box 1.

  • Red lines in box 2

  • Green lines in box 3

  • Green and blue lines in box 4

Are all extended in the opposite direction. I'll point you toward this section as well as your previous critique for the explanations on how to place your lines in the correct direction.

I am unfortunately going to need to ask for 5 more but don't get discouraged, revisions are a part of the process. If you have any questions you're more than welcome to ask them before getting started.

Next Steps:

5 more boxes please.

I figured out what you were talking about so I tried a different approach.

Sketching: The Basics

Sketching: The Basics

A lot of folks have heard about Scott Robertson's "How to Draw" - it's basically a classic at this point, and deservedly so. It's also a book that a lot of people struggle with, for the simple reason that they expect it to be a manual or a lesson plan explaining, well... how to draw. It's a reasonable assumption, but I've found that book to be more of a reference book - like an encyclopedia for perspective problems, more useful to people who already have a good basis in perspective.

Sketching: The Basics is a far better choice for beginners. It's more digestible, and while it introduces a lot of similar concepts, it does so in a manner more suited to those earlier in their studies.
