Hello everyone. Re-posting this because I forgot to toggle the "Submit for Official Critique" the first time... Thank you for your time!

Hey there Lazardjin, I'll be handling your lesson 1 critique.

Your Lines section is looking quite well, your super imposed have the most wobbling which is to be expected since it's the first exercise. In the ghosting exercises you're making smooth confident marks the majority of the time, you do get the occasional wobble but more mileage will straighten those out as long as you're using proper technique.

I'm happy you're experimenting with shapes and sizes in the Ellipses exercises. Your confidence continues into this section with nice round confident ellipses. One thing to watch out for is they are quite loose at points which may be a sign that you're not planning them out enough with ghosting before creating them, if you are taking your time though it can simply just be a mileage issue and they'll tighten up in no time while you continue to do them in warm ups. They're particularly loose in the funnels section which is something you'll want to work on in future attempts, but it's good to see you tried to keep them aligned to the funnel's central minor axis.

Your Rough Perspective Boxes are looking well done, most of your correction lines are extending in the general area of the vanishing point and you keep your horizontal lines parallel and vertical lines perpendicular to the horizon line which shows some understanding of the concepts being taught here. I will say though that your line quality has gone down in this exercise compared to the earlier ones. It may be that this was later in the day after a bunch of drawing and you're showing fatigue or you may have forgotten some earlier concepts while working on new ones (which is a common mistake people make) but keep an eye out for wobbling and try to keep them as confident as possible. Your rotated boxes attempt is really solid, you keep the spacing mostly even through the entire thing but your top left corner is starting to come apart a bit. You did manage to achieve a healthy amount of rotation though which is great especially considering these final 2 exercises are meant to be a challenge at this point in the course. In the organic perspective exercise you showed an understanding that the further a box is from the viewer the smaller it gets which is great.

Overall your lesson 1 work is a great start, I'll be marking your submission as complete and moving you on to the 250 Box Challenge where you'll gain a better understanding of how to construct in 3D space and work with vanishing points.

Good work and good luck!

Next Steps:

Complete the 250 Box Challenge before starting lesson 2.

This critique marks this lesson as complete.

Thank you very much for those advice!

Pentel Pocket Brush Pen

Pentel Pocket Brush Pen

This is a remarkable little pen. Technically speaking, any brush pen of reasonable quality will do, but I'm especially fond of this one. It's incredibly difficult to draw with (especially at first) due to how much your stroke varies based on how much pressure you apply, and how you use it - but at the same time despite this frustration, it's also incredibly fun.

Moreover, due to the challenge of its use, it teaches you a lot about the nuances of one's stroke. These are the kinds of skills that one can carry over to standard felt tip pens, as well as to digital media. Really great for doodling and just enjoying yourself.
