250 Box Challenge: Pushing the VPs to the extreme

Just started with the 250 box challenge and I got to wondering how one should choose where the vps on a given box should be placed. So I did an experiment, I constructed a box with two of the vps very far from the box, as to have minimal convergence, and the last vp visible on the page. This created a box with a great deal of distortion and does not read as a rectangular prism but, follows all rules of creating a corner facing box that I am aware of (Y method: all angles must be ? 90°, all three sets of parallel lines will converge towards their own vp) at least enough to not be the main culprit for the distortion.
So I was hoping to find out if there are any rules to placing vps, especially relative to where the other vps are placed from the same box.
i.e. when one vp is close to the box there needs to be at least one other vp a similar distance from the box
Also any rules related to the placement of vps relative to the box's orientation.
I understand that the vps will slide together when the box is rotated but I am unsure of how to use that information to inform my construction of boxes.
The box in question. There are some inaccuracies in the box construction but I wish to show the result of placing the vps at extremes.
