For the superimposed lines, you have done the lines in a pattern; I would avoid using the exercises to make appealing patterns, as you miss out important details from lessons.
When drawing ellipses into the planes, make sure they touch the 4 different edges of the plane, as many ellipses veer away from the edges.
On the tables of ellipses, the ellipses look they are drawn very heavily, so make sure to draw them smoother with more confidence and less hesitation in future.
On the funnels exercise, make sure the ellipses on either side of the major axis (the smaller horizonal line) are of equal size, as they look off-balance.
On the rough perspective exercise the lines aren't properly aligned with the horizon line, and the lines are a little shakey.
On the rotated box exercise, the boxes on the left and the boxes in the right taper differently, so make sure the boxes each side are mirrored correctly.
Next Steps:
Move on to the 250 box challenge, but be sure to go over a few of these exercises when doing warm-ups for lessons. Remember to:
-
Plan out shapes using the ghosting method
-
Draw ellipses and boxes with confidence
-
Make sure mirrored proportions are correct by carefully planning (often using ghosting)
-
Make sure to align horizonal lines to the horizon line
Ellipse Master Template
This recommendation is really just for those of you who've reached lesson 6 and onwards.
I haven't found the actual brand you buy to matter much, so you may want to shop around. This one is a "master" template, which will give you a broad range of ellipse degrees and sizes (this one ranges between 0.25 inches and 1.5 inches), and is a good place to start. You may end up finding that this range limits the kinds of ellipses you draw, forcing you to work within those bounds, but it may still be worth it as full sets of ellipse guides can run you quite a bit more, simply due to the sizes and degrees that need to be covered.
No matter which brand of ellipse guide you decide to pick up, make sure they have little markings for the minor axes.
