Hi, Maxhate.

Here's a few things you should pay attention in order to improve.

Your superimposed are overall good, but they are arching a bit. Your ghosted lines, although not really arching, they are very wobbly. You probably went too slow in order to make sure they touch the end point. Remember that right now, it's more important to focus on getting smooth confident lines than accurate ones. Accuracy will naturally come later if you keep practicing correctly.

Your ghosted planes look better, but there's still some wobbling noticeable. You also didn't place the dots for your inner lines in the planes. Remember to always plot your lines, as this will give you a goal to draw them to. Checking how far away they are from the dots is a way to identify your mistakes, which will help you improve.

Your ellipses are nice and smooth, but you seem to have struggled a bit on the funnels exercises. Remember that they should be aligned with the minor axis (central line). This line should cut each ellipse into two equal parts. You should also have made the ellipses closer to the center less round. This is optional, but it's a nice touch that will help you further on.

Now, the boxes exercise were clearly the hardest for you. Starting with the rough perspective: you failed to keep all your boxes in one point perspective. Remember that the front and back planes of each one of them should have the horizontal lines parallel to the horizon and the vertical lines perpendicular to it. Also, you didn't fully draw every box. In some cases you only drew the planes facing the viewer. You correctly extended the perspective lines to check the perspective, which is sometime some people fail. Remember to plan each line you make with dots before actually drawing them. If you feel one dot is not correct, place a new one where you think it should be.

The rotated boxes is not an easy exercise, but it's important to, in the end, have a grasps how rotated boxes work. Maybe rereading this section could help you understand it better.

On your last exercise, the organic perspective, in some occasions you drew the back of the boxes, when this was not asked. I advice you to careful read and watch the content of each lesson, as I feel you may be rushing through this. It's important to fully understand what is asked from you in order to focus on each lesson correctly. Shading the sides of the boxes was also not asked, but, when doing it, do each line correctly as if it was a ghosted lines exercise. Plot them and draw them right. Your work will look cleaner and you'll use each line as a practice occasion. Regarding the perspective, remember than the perspective lines of each face should converge to a specific vanishing point. This is better explained on the 250 boxes challenge.

Next Steps:

You did not submit the plotted perspective exercise. If didn't draw it, you skipped an important exercise to understand perspective. I'm gonna ask you to upload it before marking your lesson as complete.

Also, I ask you to draw one more page of rough perspective, remembering that when you start the first plane (frontal plane) the horizontal lines need to be parallel to the horizon. The vertical lines need to be perpendicular to the horizon line. Plot your lines well with dots and don't rush.

Reply to this once you uploaded both exercise so I can take a look at them.

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

I feel that these ended up with a better perspective than the previous ones. Well done.

Move on the the next challenge.

Cottonwood Arts Sketchbooks

These are my favourite sketchbooks, hands down. Move aside Moleskine, you overpriced gimmick. These sketchbooks are made by entertainment industry professionals down in Los Angeles, with concept artists in mind. They have a wide variety of sketchbooks, such as toned sketchbooks that let you work both towards light and towards dark values, as well as books where every second sheet is a semitransparent vellum.
