Yep, this is working fine.

So starting with your superimposed lines these are off to a fine start. You are keeping a clearly defined starting point and while you're struggling a bit with more wavering on longer lines and curves this is normal and will get better with practice. Your ghosted lines and planes turned out very well. You are doing a great job using the ghosting method to get smooth confident linework with a pretty decent degree of accuracy. Nice job.

Your table of ellipses came out decently. You are doing a good job drawing through all of your ellipses but I think you are running into some issues with deformed ellipses. I'm noticing this with your ellipses in planes as well. https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/12/deformed This is likely happening because you are thinking about accuracy too much midstroke. The reason we practice with the ghosting method is so we can build up the muscle memory of the motion of our stroke beforehand so we can execute our marks without thinking almost. This isn't going to be as accurate at first and although accuracy is the ultimate goal we want to prioritize a smooth confident stroke and this is the best way to do so. I'm not seeing too many issues with your ellipses in funnels outside of the deformed ellipse issue I mentioned earlier. Another thing you should always be thinking about is that your ellipses should always be aligned to a minor axis. https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/5/minoraxis Which you weren't always doing correct with these. Your ellipses still need plenty of work so keep practicing them during your warmups.

Plotted perspective looks fine nothing to mention here. Your rough perspective boxes are generally looking pretty good. You did a good job extending the lines back on your boxes to check your work. As you can some of your perspective estimations were a bit off but this will become more intuitive and better the more you practice. You are running into a somewhat common issue I see on this exercise where you are starting to getting some wobble on your shorter lines and with your added lineweight. This is likely happening because you aren't ghosting enough or have reverted to drawing from your wrist. So this is just a reminder to always ghost your lines multiple times and to draw from your shoulder with confidence even on shorter lines.

Your rotated box exercise was a nice attempt. You did a good job drawing through your boxes and keeping your gaps narrow and consistent. You ran into some issues with your rotations though and in some cases you weren't rotating your boxes at all but were simply drawing them moving back in perspective like on the right side. https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/16/notrotating This is a pretty common issue. This is a good exercise to come back to after the 250 box challenge to see how much your spatial thinking ability has improved. Finally, your organic box exercise turned out pretty well. You appear to be using the ghosting method very well here and your linework is looking pretty confident overall. You are running into some issues with divergining lines with some of your box constructions and you will be getting a lot of practice with this during the 250 box challenge.

This was a good submission overall. I saw some real improvements with line quality particularly by the last exercise. Keep up with practicing those ellipses. Otherwise, I think you are understanding most of the concepts these lessons are trying to teach pretty well. I'm going to mark this as complete and good luck with the 250 box challenge!

Let's be real here for a second: fineliners can get pricey. It varies from brand to brand, store to store, and country to country, but good fineliners like the Staedtler Pigment Liner (my personal brand favourite) can cost an arm and a leg. I remember finding them being sold individually at a Michael's for $4-$5 each. That's highway robbery right there.

Now, we're not a big company ourselves or anything, but we have been in a position to periodically import large batches of pens that we've sourced ourselves - using the wholesale route to keep costs down, and then to split the savings between getting pens to you for cheaper, and setting some aside to one day produce our own.

These pens are each hand-tested (on a little card we include in the package) to avoid sending out any duds (another problem with pens sold in stores). We also checked out a handful of different options before settling on this supplier - mainly looking for pens that were as close to the Staedtler Pigment Liner. If I'm being honest, I think these might even perform a little better, at least for our use case in this course.

We've also tested their longevity. We've found that if we're reasonably gentle with them, we can get through all of Lesson 1, and halfway through the box challenge. We actually had ScyllaStew test them while recording realtime videos of her working through the lesson work, which you can check out here, along with a variety of reviews of other brands.

Now, I will say this - we're only really in a position to make this an attractive offer for those in the continental United States (where we can offer shipping for free). We do ship internationally, but between the shipping prices and shipping times, it's probably not the best offer you can find - though this may depend. We also straight up can't ship to the UK, thanks to some fairly new restrictions they've put into place relating to their Brexit transition. I know that's a bummer - I'm Canadian myself - but hopefully one day we can expand things more meaningfully to the rest of the world.
