Hey Denny!

I hope you're keeping well, great work on completing lesson 1!

Here is the feedback I have for you:

Lines

Good work on your lines, I can see they've been exectuted with a confident and consistent stroke and the fraying is minimal, only on the end of the stroke. Your lines are arching a little, this will improve with time, remember to concentrate on using your shoulder and elbow when making your marks and to rely on the ghosting method. Getting used to drawin this way is challenging, I'm still getting the hang of it.

Ghosted Lines

Excellent work here, your lines are confident and consist. There is a little wobble and arch here and there, but nothing to be concerned about. Your accuracy was also good, you got a bunch of them spot on and most were really close. Nice!

Table of Ellipses

Really good work on the ellipses. Your ellipses have a solid shape and have been confidently drawn. You also have a good awareness of the space between your ellipses, most of them are touching but not overlapping. Great work!

Ghosted Planes

Good work on the planes, your lines are confidently executed with minimal wobbles or arching. One thing to remember, try not to correct lines that you've placed already-even if they're incorrect, confidence is what wer'e all trying to cultivate at this point in time, accuracy will develop with time and practice. The placement of your elipses is decent, most are touching the four corners and have been drawn confidently, sometimes taking a little more time ghosting the ellipse before putting pen to paper can help you in planning the placement of the ellipse in the required space, your second page shows a good improvement. I found that ghosting can be fairly fast but actually making the mark can be a little slower, I'm figuring this out too, good work!

Funnels

Your funnels look excellent. The ellipses have a clearly defined shape and have been drawn confidently, they also fit snuggly in the defined boundary of the funnel. The alignment of the axis down the meiddle of the funnels is mostly correct, with mild deviations to the left or right, this will imporve with time and practice.

Plotted perspective

Great work here, your line weight has been done really well too.

Rough Perspective

Your eyeballing perspective is quite impressive! Great work here, other than some wobbles with your lines this is excellent work and your second page defintely shows improvement, your lines and boxes will get even better when you tackle the 250 box challenge!

Rotated Boxes

I really struggled with this exercise, I found it to be an immense challenge, so well done on your effort on this one. Your boxes are clearly rotating through space, excellent work there.

Organic Perspective

Great work here, this exercise made me scratch my head a lot when I was doing it. Your use of foreshortening is really good and I can see clear rotation a of your boxes. Your understanding of boxes and perspective will greatly improve when you do the 250 box challenge, good luck!

I'm marking this as complete. Great work and props to you for your patience and determination, this work isn't easy. Good luck for the 250 box challenge and lesson 2!

The Science of Deciding What You Should Draw

The Science of Deciding What You Should Draw

Right from when students hit the 50% rule early on in Lesson 0, they ask the same question - "What am I supposed to draw?"

It's not magic. We're made to think that when someone just whips off interesting things to draw, that they're gifted in a way that we are not. The problem isn't that we don't have ideas - it's that the ideas we have are so vague, they feel like nothing at all. In this course, we're going to look at how we can explore, pursue, and develop those fuzzy notions into something more concrete.
