Hi, I'll be handling your box challenge critique.

Congratulations on completing the challenge, it's not an easy feat.

Overall your submission is looking pretty solid, I'm going to attempt to keep this critique brief to get you moving on to the next step as soon as possible.

Starting off your critique with your line work, it's looking great to the point that if I didn't know better I'd assume you were using a ruler. Confident, tidy and accurate so far so no complaints here. You do have some wobbling occurring with your hatching and it does tend to end up floating on the form's face rather than reaching both ends, remember that confidence is our first priority and your accuracy will continue to improve with mileage.

Great work experimenting with proportions, orientations and foreshortening throughout the challenge. Experimentation is a key factor in helping us develop a deeper understanding of new concepts, without it we risk ending up only able to draw one particular way so definitely nurture this habit. Good work drawing large as well, it helps us become more comfortable using our shoulder and allows us to see our mistakes more clearly.

It appears like you have a good grasp of how convergences should behave and yours do get more consistent as you move through the challenge. I'll point you to this example quickly, it appears like you have an understanding of most of the information shown but sometimes an explanation can help solidify things we understand intuitively. Ultimately remember that our lines should always converge as a set, never diverge from their vanishing point and due to perspective won't be completely parallel.

With all that said there's not much more for me to go over, your work is pretty solid all round. One final thing I can note actually is it doesn't appear like you're using line weight, it's an incredibly useful tool and one that requires a lot of mileage to become comfortable using so I'd encourage you to experiment with it more in the future.

Other than that your work is looking good so I see no reason to keep you here any long, I'll be moving you on to the next lesson.

Keep practicing previous exercises as warm ups and good luck in lesson 2!
