Lesson 1: Lines, Ellipses and Boxes
1:26 PM, Friday May 10th 2024
Resumed drawing habit after two years hiatus.
I am starting over from lesson one.
Hey, great job finishing lesson 1
Now let's see what did you do...
Lines
Those are allright actually, there is some fraying on both ends in the first exercises but overall lines are pretty straight, good job on that. Confidence is pretty good and you seem to ghost them pretty well, some of them have a bit of a wobble but honestly you're not a ruler, you'll only get better with time
Ellipses
Those are pretty good too, you passed a couple of times, I noticed that you tend to either overshoot or not touch the borders or go out of bounds, and it's something I would enphasize in your next warmups.
Boxes
This is the roughest part of the stuff your submission, some lines are kinda wobbly, the rotated boxes exercise is not complete and for some reason you made them very tall and the Organic Perspective you made them a little bit too few of them.
Just a curiosity, why do some of them seem to have corrections on them already?
Next Steps:
Honestly you seem to grasp the points of the lesson pretty well for lines and ellipses, there are some imperfections but this is what warmups are for, but boxes are kinda rough, especially the last two exercises
I would request one Rotated Boxes page and two Organic Perspective
Some of you may remember James Gurney's breathtaking work in the Dinotopia series. This is easily my favourite book on the topic of colour and light, and comes highly recommended by any artist worth their salt. While it speaks from the perspective of a traditional painter, the information in this book is invaluable for work in any medium.
