hello Ali, I'm Lia and I'm here to do your DAB critique of your very lesson! I'll be splitting the review in 3 sections if you don't mind.

lines:

superimposed: There quite nice and I must say that there very little to no fraying on the lines and that they are done in a steady and confident manner. I mark this part as completed.

ghosted lines: they are steady and confident with no real wobbling nor arching. very nice job, Ali.

ghosted planes: I can see that you have sketched over a line or two in this exercise and while it didn't spoil the exercise, I want to point out that it's something one should avoid doing for future notice.

ellipses:

tables: they are done very well, the lines are drawn over twice and they are snug with no spaces but also no overlapping with many places and gaps filled up. very good job!

ghosted ellipses/ planes: the ellipses are within their bounds, I can see you ghosted/ planned your lines accordingly and the lines are steady as they should. Good job.

funnels: the minor axis splits the middle Ellipse a bit better in some examples then others however the ellipses are snug and well made just as other exercises so I consider it a good job.

Boxes/ perspective:

plotted: You did everything pretty well, I can see where the boxes meet in the vanishing point and completed the exercise accordingly.

rough perspective: there's a bit more wobble in your lines then it's usual, but I think that you were able to complete the exercise well as all lines meet towards the horizon line rather then just towards the vanishing point if at all. Good job.

rotated perspective: you did probably the most difficult exercise in here very well! I can see the boxes clearly and I can see that you managed to be able to rotate them in all degrees to achieve the final globe shaped look and that you were able to follow a clear logic and didn't guess how to rotate the boxes.

organic perspective: i saw you going over a line or two in this exercise but the actual boxes themselves are actually pretty good especially compared to the rough perspective boxes and you have a very good grasp on organic perspective and how to draw the boxes alongside a line.

Next Steps:

Good job and good luck with the next part ( the box challenge)

Faber Castell PITT Artist Pens

Faber Castell PITT Artist Pens

Like the Staedtlers, these also come in a set of multiple weights - the ones we use are F. One useful thing in these sets however (if you can't find the pens individually) is that some of the sets come with a brush pen (the B size). These can be helpful in filling out big black areas.

Still, I'd recommend buying these in person if you can, at a proper art supply store. They'll generally let you buy them individually, and also test them out beforehand to weed out any duds.
