Hey hey, I'll be reviewing your homework today!!

All in all I think you did a great job. I noticed the little blunder with the organic forms but hey we all make mistakes sometimes. I'm sure you'll keep an extra eye on this when you do this as warm up sometime!

  • Your arrows are looking good, smooth and confident lines, no overdrawing or shaky lines. Good job!

  • For the organic forms I noticed your ellipses sometimes shoot over the form, it's nothing major, just make sure to ghost enough times before placing the line!

  • I really like your texture analysis, it looks great! I know it's hard with sharp shadows like in the paper and the scales but really try for a smooth transition from black to lighter, since the border is pretty good visible in the first two studies. Third one is good, though. Proof you're learning :D

  • The Dissections are great as well, breaking the silhouette, no hatching or dotting, great. Homework said 2 pages though :D

  • Intersections look good as well with confident and smooth lines and overdrawn ellipses. Everything seems to fit in the same place, nice! Here 4 pages were required though.

  • Your organic intersections look great as well, there's really nothing I can complain about.

So all in all great job! I do recommend doing the missing pages, just for training purposes but what I saw was great so I don't think you necessarily have to if you don't want to.

So either do that or onward to Lesson 3! Good luck!

Next Steps:

I recommend doing the missing pages, but you don't have to. You can go on to Lesson 3!

So sorry!! Looks like the other images/assignment sheets didn't upload eventhough I had them in the same folder. I'm re-uploading those two exercises. Hopefully this works and it shows the 2 and 4 pages. Thanks for the review!!

It's also more than that - it's a hand-picked recommendation of something I've used myself. If you're interested, here is a full list.
Faber Castell PITT Artist Pens

Faber Castell PITT Artist Pens

Like the Staedtlers, these also come in a set of multiple weights - the ones we use are F. One useful thing in these sets however (if you can't find the pens individually) is that some of the sets come with a brush pen (the B size). These can be helpful in filling out big black areas.

Still, I'd recommend buying these in person if you can, at a proper art supply store. They'll generally let you buy them individually, and also test them out beforehand to weed out any duds.
