Hi and congrats on finishing lesson 1. I find that complete beginners do very well with Drawabox as they don't really have preconceived notions about drawing that they bring to the lessons and this usually leads to them following the instructions more carefully and the results tend to be pretty good and after a quick glance at your submission this appears to be the case here as well. So starting with your superimposed lines these are off to a very good start. You are keeping a clearly defined starting point on these for the most part and while you are struggling with more severe tapering on longer lines and curves that is to be expected at this point. Your ghosted lines and planes are also looking very good and I'm already seeing improvement by the second page of ghosted planes. Your accuracy isn't quite there yet but your linework is already quite smooth and confident and the accuracy will grow with mileage.
Moving onto your table of ellipses these are a good start as well. You are doing a great job drawing through all of your ellipses here and you are focusing on getting a smooth ellipse shape which is your number one priority right now. Your accuracy still needs a lot of work but that is typically always just comes down to practice, practice, practice. Very nice job on the ellispes in planes. You didn't fall into a common beginner trap of slowing down to accurately fit your ellipse into the plane and thus destorying your shape. You are executing these confidently with the ghosting method and maintaining a smooth shape with your drawthroughs. Once again your accuracy on these will grow better and better with mileage. Great job here. Your ellipses in funnels are looking decent. You are maintaining a smooth shape for the most part and drawing through but I'm noticing a tendency for your ellipses to tilt off the minor axis a bit. Please check the lesson notes here https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/13/notaligned Your are off to a great start with your ellipses but there is plenty of room for improvement here so keep practicing these during your warmups.
Plotted perspective looks great nothing to mention here. Your rough perspective exercise came out decently. You did a good job extending your lines back to check your work here. Your perspective estimations were quite off at times but that will get better with practice. Some of your linework on these is looking a wobbly which could be a matter of you reverting back to drawing with your wrist or not ghosting enough. This tends to happen from time to time when a student is thinking through more complex spatial problems as they tend to skip steps in the process. So just a reminder to always ghost your lines and draw from the shoulder even on shorter lines like the ones here.
I just noticed your rotated box exercise is missing and I'll need you to submit that before I can mark this lesson as complete. Your organic perspective boxes are looking pretty good overall. I am noticing a few more wobbly lines on these and it's probably for the same reasons as I mentioned with your rough perspective boxes but for the most part your linework is solid throughout these. Your box convergences need quite a bit of work though and you will get a lot of practice on that during the 250 box challenge.
This was a great submission overall. You did a really good job following the instructions and are picking up most of the concepts these lessons are trying to teach and I am seeing a lot of improvement throughout these pages. Keep practicing those ellipses and get that missing rotated box page submitted so I can mark this as complete.
Next Steps:
Missing one page of the rotated box exercise
