Hello!

I finally managed to complete the 250 Box Challenge. It was definitely more of a slog for me to get through than Lesson 1. Particularly towards the end, my consistency with working on the challenge was pretty sporadic. Overall, I began the challenge on January 1, 2021, and I finished it on November 7, 2021, so it did take me quite a while.

I know everyone works at their own pace, but I would spend about 20 - 30 minutes on each box, and I did worry that maybe I was wasting too much time overthinking the angle for each line. In particular, I got into the habit of ghosting each of the three initial lines that we use to create the box and essentially "transplanting" that motion for any lines that were parallel. My concern is that I was too focused on completing my boxes this way that I didn't really absorb how to look and plot points that will help create lines that converge with or run parallel to the other lines. To put it in other words, I felt like I focused entirely on replicating the motion of drawing a line at a particular angle, rather than training my eyes to look and plot the correct lines.

As far as my progress throughout the challenge, I feel as though halfway through I didn't make much notable improvement. Towards the end, I still observed myself making the same mistakes with lines converging to soon or diverging, which shouldn't happen.

Regardless, I'm happy to have completed it! I'd be very grateful to hear any critiques you all might have.

Ellipse Master Template

Ellipse Master Template

This recommendation is really just for those of you who've reached lesson 6 and onwards.

I haven't found the actual brand you buy to matter much, so you may want to shop around. This one is a "master" template, which will give you a broad range of ellipse degrees and sizes (this one ranges between 0.25 inches and 1.5 inches), and is a good place to start. You may end up finding that this range limits the kinds of ellipses you draw, forcing you to work within those bounds, but it may still be worth it as full sets of ellipse guides can run you quite a bit more, simply due to the sizes and degrees that need to be covered.

No matter which brand of ellipse guide you decide to pick up, make sure they have little markings for the minor axes.
