Hi Haagrin,

I've checked your submission,

I see a common issue all through the lesson with your lines, they are lacking confidence. Now, remember the golden rule for this course; Confidence>Accuracy. You have to always strive for confidence in your lines over anything else, accuracy comes with time and practice, so don't feel down if you miss your lines or overshoot them at the beginning. But, how do you apply confidence? The ghosting method. Confidence in your marks should come from you ghosting and repeating until you feel ready, take your time, don't try to rush learning.

Now, the same exact principle could be applied to to your ellipses (and every line you apply through DaB), take your time ghosting them and go through them only two times (more than that makes them look messy). If you do it like this, you will see how those ellipses get tighter and better as you progress through the course.

Now, remember to properly read the exercises, in the funnels one you are supposed to make the ellipses wider as they get further from the center. What you did in the exercis doesn't look bad, but you just missed that important element to it, so keep an eye on that. Always watch the videos and read all the material.

Your perspective exercises look really good from that point of view, though they lack a little in the lines, but we have already discussed that matter.

I'm gonna mark this lesson as completed! Keep it up.

Next Steps:

Now comes the 250 Box Challenge, It's not that hard, just scary. This challenge it's all about two things: constancy and determination. Don't try to rush through the challenge, take your time and try to make the most of every box. Try to do it regularly, if you can daily, go for it! I started it out by doing 10 boxes a day (5 boxes it's my personal best amount for each page, though don't do more than 6) and when I got the hang of it I did 15, and then continued like that up to the end. Remember, slow and steady.

Use all this boxs to practice your line confidence! Don't feel down if you don't do them perfectly at the beginning, if you learn from your mistakes and push through, you will improve.

This community member feels the lesson should be marked as complete, and 2 others agree. The student has earned their completion badge for this lesson and should feel confident in moving onto the next lesson.

Hi Weijak,

Thank you for taking the time to review and provide honest practical feedback. I will reflect on this and review the material (particularly ghosting) as suggested. When I'm practicing/warming up I'll put my focus on creating confident lines.

Thanks again for taking the time out of your day to review my work, I appreciate it.

How to Draw by Scott Robertson

When it comes to technical drawing, there's no one better than Scott Robertson. I regularly use this book as a reference when eyeballing my perspective just won't cut it anymore. Need to figure out exactly how to rotate an object in 3D space? How to project a shape in perspective? Look no further.
