I used colored fineliners here which I only now realize might be going against the instructions of lesson 0? (Correct me if Im wrong?)

I also used one of the ghosted planes pages for the ellipses in planes homework.

Hello! For your ellipses, based on what I'm seeing, it appears as though you circled more than 2 times. Correct me if I'm wrong. I know that the instructions just listed that all ellipses be drawn only two times in the same stroke. Other than that, it appears as though you have fully understood all of the other concepts.

Next Steps:

Move onto the 250 box challenge! Continue the exercises you have been doing, you're doing great!

Thank you! I noticed that too! I know I know, no self deprecation here, and Im not trying to do that, but it was kind of a stupid mistake on my part, since I kept telling myself "okay repeat them only 2 times" but here we are, just a counting error lol

While we understand that providing feedback can be time consuming, and students who do so are helping others out on a voluntary basis, it is important to ensure that when we provide feedback, that we have enough time to do so in a detailed manner, addressing all of the major sections of the lesson. In the case that we don't have time to do that, it is best to leave it to another, as our system is not able to tell the difference between minimal feedback and critiques that are more complete, and will reduce the likelihood the student will get further feedback (in order to make room for others who are waiting to have their work critiqued).

If on the other hand you just aren't sure how to approach providing the feedback, we do provide critique guides for some of the lessons - currently Lesson 1 and the box challenge. If a critique guide is available for the submission you're looking at, you'll find a link to it right above the text box where you write your feedback. Be sure to go through it, as it will not only help you provide better, more useful feedback, but it'll also help you better understand the lesson material to your own benefit.

I'll go ahead and mark this as unhelpful, so the system understands the situation better, and provides CommercialLzrid with another chance at getting feedback if they haven't received it from someone else already.

Hi, Today i am going to critique your work. First of all congratulations for completing Lesson 1, and i hope you have done all the exercises in the same way that has been suggested.

Now let's talk about your Home-Work :-)

1.Superimposed Lines

looks good but lines do wobble/waver, it is not a big problem it is common when you are starting drawing with your arm soo good job brother. lines are only fraying on one end that is good but the fraying i am seeing here some of them are too big try to improve it ok! :-)

OVERALL: good i don't have that many pointers but try to increase your control on your hand and the motion

2.Ghosted Lines

the mark are not wobbly, lines do not curve there is less over lapping of point and lines soo good job here.

OVERALL: do more ghosting before drawing these lines

3.Ghosted Planes

perfection :-}, i can see you have used ghosting to draw every single line and there are no wobble at all. Yes there are some overlapping lines but they are not that big of a deal. i will say that you should have done some experimental shapes like over elongated square/ rectangle/kite and etc.

OVERALL: no pointers in this one

4.Tables of Ellipses

it was suggested to draw through ellipses 2 to 3 times not more then that or less then that , but you have drawn like 4/5 times. it is not a big problem but remimber to not do this moving forward ok .Ellipses are looking good there shape is consistence and these is less overlapping .

OVERALL: there is some stiffness here and there but not a big problem try to free your hand and doo more ghosting before drawing.

5.Ellipses in Planes

same problem as the "Table of Elipses" you have drawn through like 4/5 times that is a problem soo stop it,but the ellipse are evenly shaped and ellipses touch all 4 edges of the plane

OVERALL:do ghosting and draw through only 2 times please

6.Funnels

same problem here too, same as exercise 5 and 6 :-) . ellipses are touching the walls of the funnel and these is less gap between the other ellipses .

OVERALL: looks good i will say you can also try to do the advanced version of this exercise in which you have to increase the size of the ellipses as you move ferther from the center of the funnel :(.

7.Plotted Perspective

ok good good brother you have done this one perfectly lines are parallel, you have used a ruler for your linework. you have correctly plotting their horizontal edges back to the vanishing points

OVERALL:no pointers here too this is perfection :-)

8.Rough Perspective

you are working with 1 vanishing point around the center of the frame that's good, front and back faces of the boxes look rectangular and line extensions are good but there is lot of wabble but i can say you have used ghosting soo i was look away this one :-).

OVERALL: line did not look good work on that okk brother. you have learned the conscept so no need to redo this one .

9.Rotated Boxes

this is the meaning of perfection all lines look good boxes are rotating and the gap between them is also good.

OVERALL: no pointers here too :)

10.Organic Perspective

ooooooo i love this one no mistakes at all line 10/10, dramatic foreshortening 10/10. no wobble at allllll good job brother after seeing this i can say you will have no problem on the 250 box challenge

OVERALL: nothing from my side :-)

But i am going to suggest you to redo the 1 and 2 no need to post them, for some reason they look out of place

now !!

everything looks good you have done it!! brother lessen 1 is complete

you can move on to the 250 box challenge and remember to also follow the 50% rule ok, it is important.

and read the pinned message on the critique section to learn how to use it properly :::-)

Next Steps:

you have to add all these exercises in your rutean and you need 2 agrees by other people to mark this lessen as complete.

This community member feels the lesson should be marked as complete. In order for the student to receive their completion badge, this critique will need 2 agreements from other members of the community.

Thank you! Very insightful review, and yea that circle thing was simply a counting error that for some reason went on for way too long haha.

no problem brother keep in mind to keep using ghosting and using your whole arm to draw. welcome to the 250 box challenge club :-)

Steven Zapata's Secrets of Shading

Some of you will have noticed that Drawabox doesn't teach shading at all. Rather, we focus on the understanding of the spatial relationships between the form we're drawing, which feeds into how one might go about applying shading. When it comes time to learn about shading though, you're going to want to learn it from Steven Zapata, hands down.

Take a look at his portfolio, and you'll immediately see why.
