Hello, sorry for late reply,

Your contours are looking better. They are smoother than before, but they share the same problem. They don't fit in the sausages. Remember to fit them inside our sausage form. If they go out of bound it breaks the feel of a 3d form and it shows that you didn't take as much time for them as needed or you aren't committing enough to each curve. https://drawabox.com/lesson/2/5/floating

But your sausages didn't get that much better, most likely due to you being out of shape. Remember to make them smooth, so there aren't any leftovers from our strokes like there. https://imgur.com/a/BeDQEXI

Since you are willing to do more, I will assign 2 more pages of sausages to do. Remember to do a warm up before drawing them.

Take as much time as needed for each stroke. Curved lines need even more time compared to straight ones. Don't give up, but also don't grind them behind the scenes. Do a few curved imposed lines in a warmup and that should be enough. I am calling that out since I know a lot of ppl that grinded DAB. But grinding DAB doesn't give us that much in the long run.

It is the 1st time I heard that spiders are cute haha. My arachnophobia was really bad a few years ago. But now I am just scared of those big spiders from australia. The thing that I am scared of is how big they actually are. But I am too scared to find out and I don't live in Australia so I don't need to.

Next Steps:

Please submit another 2 pages of organic forms

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

well um, i really don't think there's not much different with the first revision and the 2nd revision, so i know what i am aiming for which is smooth curved contour lines, keeping those snug as well as connecting my sausages without any leftover strokes showing while keeping that in mind i also did ghost a lot of times, but uh well it didn't really go well so here's 2 more of the sausages that i tried to do https://imgur.com/a/HCMkVZ6

I disagree, you sausages here are so much smoother than before. Contours could see more work, as they could be smoother and few of them don't fit in sausages, but this is also happening less frequently than before.

So I will mark this lesson as complete. You understand the problem you made and I hope you will address them more in future warmup. What we are doing here are exercises, not drawing for gallery exhibition.

So keep doing organic forms(in warmups, remember no grinding!) until you feel comfortable and there aren't any problems with them. Remember to be confident with each of your strokes, even if they aren't as smooth as we would wish now, don't give up. You will get there with enough hard work. It is a marathon not a sprint. Take one step at a time.

Have fun during your journey,

Ellipse Master Template

Ellipse Master Template

This recommendation is really just for those of you who've reached lesson 6 and onwards.

I haven't found the actual brand you buy to matter much, so you may want to shop around. This one is a "master" template, which will give you a broad range of ellipse degrees and sizes (this one ranges between 0.25 inches and 1.5 inches), and is a good place to start. You may end up finding that this range limits the kinds of ellipses you draw, forcing you to work within those bounds, but it may still be worth it as full sets of ellipse guides can run you quite a bit more, simply due to the sizes and degrees that need to be covered.

No matter which brand of ellipse guide you decide to pick up, make sure they have little markings for the minor axes.
