Lesson 1: Lines, Ellipses and Boxes
8:16 AM, Tuesday October 27th 2020
Hello this is a resubmission of my Lesson 1 assignments which hopefully uploaded properly this time. Thank you for your critiques in my previous submission.
oh i didnt see the last submission but i would like to point a few things i noticed as i looked thru your submissions
for lines - in the ghosting lines and lines in general you seem to be afraid to let your hand draw one confident stroke without stopping mid way to see if you're doing it right so your lines are a little wobbly some places so try and let your hand memorize the motion of confident straight lines without having to know if they hit the mark perfectly
for elipses - in the table of elipses in some places the elipses are not in the same direction and seem rushed and in funnels most of them look great so good job there!!
for boxes - again the lines for the boxes are a little shaky and in the organic perspective ones you got confused with which ones were in front and i did too!! so thats perfectly fine jus try and visualize the ones in front and the ones far away
im sorry if my advice is not helpful cuz i just finished lesson 2 today but you are doing great and i'll just say good luck for 250 boxes!! stay safe and keep working hard you can do this!!!
Next Steps:
the 250 box challenge and good luck!!
Thanks for the tips! I definitely lost track of the orientation of the boxes sometime. I agree that my lines are still shaky and I need to build the muscle memory for shoulder drawing. Thanks for taking the time to help me out!
np!! glad i could help!! good luck going forwrd
This is another one of those things that aren't sold through Amazon, so I don't get a commission on it - but it's just too good to leave out. PureRef is a fantastic piece of software that is both Windows and Mac compatible. It's used for collecting reference and compiling them into a moodboard. You can move them around freely, have them automatically arranged, zoom in/out and even scale/flip/rotate images as you please. If needed, you can also add little text notes.
When starting on a project, I'll often open it up and start dragging reference images off the internet onto the board. When I'm done, I'll save out a '.pur' file, which embeds all the images. They can get pretty big, but are way more convenient than hauling around folders full of separate images.
Did I mention you can get it for free? The developer allows you to pay whatever amount you want for it. They recommend $5, but they'll allow you to take it for nothing. Really though, with software this versatile and polished, you really should throw them a few bucks if you pick it up. It's more than worth it.
