Lesson 1: Lines, Ellipses and Boxes
9:40 PM, Wednesday May 26th 2021
Hi. Here is my attempt at lesson 1. I would love some feedback.
Trying Drawing for the second time, this time until the end.
Thanks you for taking the time to critique.
Hi Dotky!
First of all, congratulations for finishing lesson 1! You made it.
Here are some points worth noting:
Superimposed Lines: Good work! Fraying happens only on one end, great confidence and accuracy (which is an excellent bonus).
Ghosted Lines: Confident and nice lines. You tend to overshoot lines here, however, it's totally normal.
Ghosted Planes: Really solid work! Great confident and accurate lines, incredibly done.
Ghosted Ellipses: Nice work. Confident and averagely snuggly put ellipses, although I can see some overshoot ellipses. That aside, good job.
Table of Ellipses: Well done. Ellipses are tightly placed next to each other, decreasing overshoot issues as well. Great progress.
Funnels: Neat and solid work, tightly placed ellipses and they direct according to their minor axis. However, I would suggest you trying to increase their degree (width of the ellipse). As they move further to the outer side of the funnel, the ellipses should be more and more circular.
Plotted Perspective: Nothing much to say, neat work.
Rough Perspective: Well done! I can definitely see your effort in making the X and Y axis of the box parallel and perpendicular to the horixon line consecutively, and progress is clearly and significantly made throughout the exercise.
Rotated Boxes: It's a tough exercise, and you finished it! Even so, I'd like to point out that it seems that you forgot to add the back side of some boxes, specifically on the top 2 boxes on diagonal right (quadrant 1), and other boxes on each diagonal top of each quadrant.
Organic Perspective: Again, it's a hard exercise but you managed it well. Although the boxes's sizes are kind of confusing at the first frame of the first page, overall you did a nice work!
Cheers!
Next Steps:
Proceed onto 250 Box Challenge, best of luck!
Hi Bolakecil !
Thanks for the incredible reply.
I will pay attention to these points, mainly the degree of ellipses.
Thank you very much!
Glad to hear so, good luck!
A lot of my students use these. The last time I used them was when I was in high school, and at the time I felt that they dried out pretty quickly, though I may have simply been mishandling them. As with all pens, make sure you're capping them when they're not in use, and try not to apply too much pressure. You really only need to be touching the page, not mashing your pen into it.
In terms of line weight, the sizes are pretty weird. 08 corresponds to 0.5mm, which is what I recommend for the drawabox lessons, whereas 05 corresponds to 0.45mm, which is pretty close and can also be used.
