Congrats on completing lesson one of DaB, Cana! I'll be reviewing your work based on each exercise

Superimposed lines and ghosted lines

Your superimposed lines look good. They all maintain a constant trajectory, leading to less fraying. Your lines are clearly defined and consistent. Your curves and lines are varying shapes and lengths, which is good. Your ghosted lines turned out decent. You should try varying their lengths, they all seem about the same size. Though, you are creating clean & confident lines. Nice work!

Ghosted planes, tables of ellipses, and Ellipses in funnels

Your tables of ellipses are looking very good. You are doing a good job drawing through them twice. They are smooth and show confidence. Your ghosted planes are looking good as well. It seems like you've drawn them over maybe 3-4 times, you should stick to 2. They do show confidence and look pretty clean. Your ellipses in funnels are looking good aswell. I don't have much to say about them. Overall, your ellipses are developing quite well. Great job!

Plotted perspective, Rough perspective

Your plotted perspective looks good, nothing much to add. Your rough perspective is looking decent. I see you have confident lines, and are using the ghosting method. Good job :)

Rotated boxes and organic perspective

Your rotated box exercise was a pretty good attempt. You have nice linework, but the boxes aren't rotating enough. Good job on drawing through the box and making nice lines, though. Your organic perspective looks pretty good aswell! I can see you are using the ghosting method, and creating confident lines.

Overall, you did a pretty good job. I can see improvement in your linework. You should practice 2-3 of these exercises for 10-15 minutes everyday, to strengthen your linework

Next Steps:

Feel free to do the 250 box challenge! Good luck :)

Color and Light by James Gurney

Color and Light by James Gurney

Some of you may remember James Gurney's breathtaking work in the Dinotopia series. This is easily my favourite book on the topic of colour and light, and comes highly recommended by any artist worth their salt. While it speaks from the perspective of a traditional painter, the information in this book is invaluable for work in any medium.
