(250 Box Challenge) How do you find the face of the box that faces the viewer?

Some of the boxes that are drawn have an obvious answer to this question, but I make some boxes (and have watched others on video make some boxes) that feel like a guess as to which side of the box is the "front-facing" face that can be hatched over. These boxes I'm referring to are usually boxes that have very, very little foreshortening.
Is there any rhyme or reason to the front face of these types of boxes? Do I just pick a random large side of the box and say it's the viewing face?
Or did I just miss something in the 250 box challenge's lesson write-up? If so, could someone point me to it or quote it?
Thanks.
