Lesson 1: Lines, Ellipses and Boxes
1:40 PM, Wednesday June 10th 2020
I'm sorry for the paper change.. I ran out of print papers so I used the sketchbook paper until I bought a ream of it yesterday
Congrats AZUYOROU for completing the assigned exercises for lesson 1.
I want to apologize for my previous mistake and I hope this review goes through
SUPERIMPOSED LINES I see a little bit of fraying on both ends, take more time to reposition the pen on the paper. Wobble in the expect range. Execution is ok
GHOSTED LINES You did a lot of them, Try to not correct the line when you miss the point. You'll improve better if you don't think you can fix your mistakes. That teaches you to commit more to your lines
GHOSTED PLANES More accurate lines, more wobbly lines. Try to strive for a midground between accuracy and confidence and then improve them both at the same time compared to improving one at a time. 5 and 5 in both is a better improvement than 10 and 0
You forgot the mid-lines at least once
TABLE OF ELLIPSES Looks like you started hastily and out of bounds, but you picked up the correct way pretty soon. Confidence standard, accuracy over standard
ELLIPSES IN PLANES Passing over the ellipse you drew the first round is more important than hitting the points. Looks like you tried to either correct the mistake at the second run around or you need to improve your accuracy in passing over the same line when you repeat ellipses. Complexively, good enough work. Bravo
FUNNELS Your ellipses are slanty sometimes. Seems like your ellipses worsened as the exercises continued
PLOTTED PERSPECTIVE There is no line weight but good execution
ROUGH PERSPECTIVE Exercise understood. Good execution
ROTATED BOXES You would have gotten a better result if you kept the edges closer. Sometimes they feel like you prolonged the line instead of a proper rotation. Good filling. Looks like you understood the exercise overall
ORGANIC PERSPECTIVE You were supposed to do six of them in two pages, like rough perspective. Overall it's a good job
Next Steps:
Next step is 250 boxes challenge.
Remember warmups, following the answer to the faq under this one https://drawabox.com/faq/grinding (there is no direct link to it :( )
I suppose you are using your shoulder, so keep doing so.
Also if you got the time, the site need reviewers. If there are more reviewers, there are going to be less work to do for each one of us, and that reduces mistakes like the one I did on your submission (I can't say I'm sorry enough times to make it ok).
I really hope you'll find time to give back to the community.
==MISTAKE, BIG MISTAKE. IGNORE REVIEW PLEASE==
i AM A DUMB DUMB DUMBY DUMB DUMB. SORRY
Next Steps:
You are missing the boxes part. It doesn't show in the link
???
This is a remarkable little pen. Technically speaking, any brush pen of reasonable quality will do, but I'm especially fond of this one. It's incredibly difficult to draw with (especially at first) due to how much your stroke varies based on how much pressure you apply, and how you use it - but at the same time despite this frustration, it's also incredibly fun.
Moreover, due to the challenge of its use, it teaches you a lot about the nuances of one's stroke. These are the kinds of skills that one can carry over to standard felt tip pens, as well as to digital media. Really great for doodling and just enjoying yourself.
