Hi MR_ALEXD,
I hope all is well, and it is my honor to congratulate you on finishing the first lesson! i know it requires a lot of effort and patience to go through the exercise, so great job!
Superimposed lines:
-
The lines are pretty good, i don't see a lot of wobbling so you have your priority straight on trying to get a smooth confident line.
-
watch out for fraying at the beginning, i see on page two already some improvement.
-
Experiment a bit what works for you, for me what really helped is to lift my pen at the end of the stroke a little bit more than comfortable, go back to the beginning and really try to put my pen at the same dot to start my ghosting line.
Ghosted lines:
-
very nice confident smooth lines, especially the vertical one on the right.
-
the accuracy is also already pretty thight, well done.
Ghosted planes:
-
again accuracy is already very nice.
-
at some point you may want to reduce the size of the dots a bit. There is plenty of room in the box challenge to practice this.
Table of ellipses
-
you are drawing through the ellipses, there is some overshoot here and there, but overall very nice.
-
the bigger circles seem to be challenging now and then, interestingly they seem go better with the planes.
-
i would suggest making circles as a part of your warm-up like 5 min. circles.
Boxes
- plotted perspective: very nicely done, nothing to comment
rough perspective:
-
make use of the ghosting method and don't be afraid to put in some correction dots.
-
e.g. it is single point perspective, therefore when you are ghosting you can check if the horizontal lines run parallel to the horizon and te vertical perpendicular to it. Most of them look pretty good, but there are some obvious ones that could have been corrected.
-
you have plenty of practice with this in the box challenge.
Rotated boxes
-
OMG indeed :) it is a daunting task
-
if you look at the rotation starting in the middle to the left, that one is pretty decent.
-
to make it look more rotated you should have used the same convergence of that middle outer left box and apply the same convergence on all the outer boxes.
-
i noticed that you went over the top of all boxes again, i'm not sure if this is to make them stand out more.
-
i would suggest shadowing the in between the boxes that will give you a similar effect and keeping a nice line.'
-
overall, well done!
Organic perspective:
-
That looks nice, rotating boxes from far away to the front.
-
There could have been a bit more variety on the rotation, use different Y for that.
-
and look out that the lines in the box are not becoming to thick, keep that for the outer lines.
I hope you find this critique helpful and maybe gives you some ideas on how to improve, if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.
Great job again on finishing the first lesson, i hope you had fun and good luck with the 250 box challenge!
Next Steps:
You are definitely ready for the 250 Box Challenge.
If you have time and the apetite for it, I would suggest critiquing other people's work.
Good luck and have fun drawing!
