there´s been a huge gap of time in between exercises. Truly the texture exercise was challenging, but the one I had the most trouble with was the organic intersections.

Hello!

Overall review:

It is looking pretty nice and good work. Also, it is clean and neat

Detailed Review:

Contour Lines:

This is a pretty nice and clean section. Just a bit attention in organic forms needed.

Organic Arrows:

Your arrows are turning nicely, but somewhere you tried to make it more complicated. So, it is a bit problematic to understand which is inner and outer part of the ribbon. But, it's completely okay! we are here to learn. I can tell you did understood this exercise. No repetition is required.

Organic Forms with Contour Lines:

In contour ellipses, you degree should reduce as you come near to the middle. Your forms aren't giving an illusion of 3D. For that to happen you should first believe that your form is 3D. So, it is resulting in your contour lines not giving the illusion it should. I think you do a page of organic form with contour eclipses. While doing the exercise don't forget to keep in mind that the illusion your are trying to serve. Just because I said a repetition doesn't mean you are wrong. I am just telling you to understand it better

Texture and Detail

I did love this section! keep it up!

Texture Analysis

You did it so well and detailed. I really loved it! Also, I must say, your transition from dark to light is simply amazing and actually mesmerizing. I loved it! keep it up!

Dissections:

Properly done with silhouette and details. Also, it does convey that the dissections are 3D. Well done!

Construction:

This section was pretty challenging.

Form Intersections:

Well, this is actually difficult part and we don't expect to get it right on the first go. The goal here is to understand and i think you understood this pretty well. Well done! your most of the intersections do look nice, so don't worry! You did s great job here. Nice

Organic Intersections:

I did notice a very prominent thing in your intersection here, that is, some of your form comes from below the heap of form and they overlap to the upper forms, which is quite contradictory to human eye. Now take an example, if you arrange a bunch of half filled balloons. If you arrange them on top of each other, how will the lower balloon overlap with the upper? It will definitely slouch down and spread on the surface. Try to compare this with your organic intersection, the lower form will definitely slouch down. Slouching the form up will make it unreal and stop the 3D imagination. So, for you to understand what I told now, I would like you to do one page of organic intersection too.

If you have any query about the review, feel free to ask.

Thank you!

Next Steps:

1 page of organic form with contour eclipses.

1 page of organic intersection.

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

Hi, I love your comments. You were right specially on the organic intersections. I had so much trouble for that and even in this revision I struggled so bad, I don´t think it looks right but I´ll send it anyways to share your thoughts. Thanks for commenting!

Staedtler Pigment Liners

Staedtler Pigment Liners

These are what I use when doing these exercises. They usually run somewhere in the middle of the price/quality range, and are often sold in sets of different line weights - remember that for the Drawabox lessons, we only really use the 0.5s, so try and find sets that sell only one size.

Alternatively, if at all possible, going to an art supply store and buying the pens in person is often better because they'll generally sell them individually and allow you to test them out before you buy (to weed out any duds).
