Your superimposed lines work well. They have a clear beginning and that's good. However, I think you could have done more curved lines because they all look alike so you haven't tried much diversity. You could also have tried to draw longer lines, it's a great exercise.

Your ghosted lines could be straighter, and I think you could have done way more of them. Don't hesitate to fill the whole page, it's gonna get particularly handy when you'll have to do warm-ups. If you only do several ghosted lines before your drawing session, you're not going to be warm enough to do the exercises.

The lines of your ghosted planes are way straighter so that's great! Furthermore, you've filled the whole page and that's a very good point. (I think this ghosted plane exercise is perfect for warmups, it prepares you to do straight lines, ellipses, forms... It's basically perfect for what you're gonna be asked to do in the next lessons.)

Your ellipses are clean. You have done them 2-3 times and that's very good. Your funnel exercise works pretty well too. I think your ellipses are your strong point.

Unfortunately, your lines in the rough perspective exercise are not straight enough. That's weird because they were way straighter when you tackled the ghosted plane exercise. Don't get overwhelmed by the idea of the box in 3d, drawing lines is always gonna remain drawing lines. Also, don't forget to ghost them a lot before actually drawing them.

Your rotated boxes exercise works pretty well too! Good job!

Definitely gonna try out all those exercises as a warm up keeping in mind your advice. I think the reason my lines got worse in the rough perspective was the length of them, I find it harder to draw short lines from the arm, I'd also taken a little bit of a break between them. I'm gonna practice shorter ghosted lines. Thanks for the critique, moving on to the 250 box challenge!

Congrats on finishing the first lesson! i would say a bit of practice on linecontrol is needed perhaps - the first page oflines are a bit frayed at both ends, which suggests you were maybe rushing a bit without starting at the same point. however the second page of lines is definitely improved and looks confident and smooth. sone of your straight lines in both the 2nd exercise and some of the box exercises seem to have a bit of a 'flourish' rather than being controlled and straight - this maybe comes from flicking your wrist towards the end so perhaps be conscious of your shoulder drawing and take breaks if needed. i think your ellipses are especially good and well aligned, touching the boundaries just like they should be!

Move on but also try some warm ups with the straight lines and shoulder drawing exercises.

Let's be real here for a second: fineliners can get pricey. It varies from brand to brand, store to store, and country to country, but good fineliners like the Staedtler Pigment Liner (my personal brand favourite) can cost an arm and a leg. I remember finding them being sold individually at a Michael's for $4-$5 each. That's highway robbery right there.

Now, we're not a big company ourselves or anything, but we have been in a position to periodically import large batches of pens that we've sourced ourselves - using the wholesale route to keep costs down, and then to split the savings between getting pens to you for cheaper, and setting some aside to one day produce our own.

These pens are each hand-tested (on a little card we include in the package) to avoid sending out any duds (another problem with pens sold in stores). We also checked out a handful of different options before settling on this supplier - mainly looking for pens that were as close to the Staedtler Pigment Liner. If I'm being honest, I think these might even perform a little better, at least for our use case in this course.

We've also tested their longevity. We've found that if we're reasonably gentle with them, we can get through all of Lesson 1, and halfway through the box challenge. We actually had ScyllaStew test them while recording realtime videos of her working through the lesson work, which you can check out here, along with a variety of reviews of other brands.

Now, I will say this - we're only really in a position to make this an attractive offer for those in the continental United States (where we can offer shipping for free). We do ship internationally, but between the shipping prices and shipping times, it's probably not the best offer you can find - though this may depend. We also straight up can't ship to the UK, thanks to some fairly new restrictions they've put into place relating to their Brexit transition. I know that's a bummer - I'm Canadian myself - but hopefully one day we can expand things more meaningfully to the rest of the world.
