We didn't have any regular printer paper in the house so I opted to use some cardstock that was laying around. Is this ok?

So long as it's white and the surface is relatively smooth and non-absorbent ( fineliners needs a finished surface for better line quality ) I expect it's OK. IN the short term anyway.

TBH though, if you can it would be cheaper and better to get some printer paper. I know, depending where you live, it may be not be as easy as where I am.

How to Draw by Scott Robertson

When it comes to technical drawing, there's no one better than Scott Robertson. I regularly use this book as a reference when eyeballing my perspective just won't cut it anymore. Need to figure out exactly how to rotate an object in 3D space? How to project a shape in perspective? Look no further.
