Question About Not Having The Right Material.

6:13 PM, Saturday March 20th 2021

Hi, I am new to Draw A Box and I am about to start the homework portion but I don't have any 0.3mm pens. I only have 0.05mm, 0.1mm, and 1.4mm pens I got from a How To Draw Manga kit I got for christmas. I also tried looking for Ultra Point sharpies but I only have fine point sharpies. I also can't go out and buy things since I'm younger. Any advice on what tools I can use or maybe I can use one of the things I mentioned above? Thanks! :)

I also started with limited supplies and not the exact right pens.

Its ok to start with whatever have. Even if all you can have are ball point pens.

The most important thing is to practice making the marks confidently and following all the other instructions.

The 0.3 pen or the 0.1 will work. I would not worry about this too much.

I used to do the first excercise for years with a pencil before I knew about draw a box and it

was a good practice

The Science of Deciding What You Should Draw

The Science of Deciding What You Should Draw

Right from when students hit the 50% rule early on in Lesson 0, they ask the same question - "What am I supposed to draw?"

It's not magic. We're made to think that when someone just whips off interesting things to draw, that they're gifted in a way that we are not. The problem isn't that we don't have ideas - it's that the ideas we have are so vague, they feel like nothing at all. In this course, we're going to look at how we can explore, pursue, and develop those fuzzy notions into something more concrete.
