Getting additional credits within the same month?

9:16 PM, Saturday November 8th 2025

When I signed up for the $5 tier to submit my box challenge I guess its length made me not realize that I'll probably finish lesson 2 before I get my next credit. I'm not done with lesson 2 yet, but I figured it would be better to ask before I needed to.

Is there a way to get additional credits within the same month? Would cancelling and re-joining the $5 tier give one additional credit, or should I upgrade to the $10 tier?

Sorry if this has been asked before, I could not find a search feature for the discussions page.

When students require more credits and prefer not to wait, they can upgrade their tier to the next step up. Doing so will charge them the difference between the tiers, and will similarly provide them with the difference in credits. Unfortunately cancelling and signing back up doesn't work as Patreon counts you as being signed up for a given tier for the whole month, so it wouldn't charge you upon signing back up.

Just wondering, how do we know which tier we are?

On the Patreon website, if you click Settings and then the Membership tab (or alternatively, use this link while logged into Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/settings/memberships), then click on "View Details" next to the listing for "Uncomfortable", it'll show you your current tier (between "Uncomfortable" and where it shows your next charge date).

Currently you're on the Casual Student tier, which includes 1 credit per month.

Oh cool thank you

Ellipse Master Template

Ellipse Master Template

This recommendation is really just for those of you who've reached lesson 6 and onwards.

I haven't found the actual brand you buy to matter much, so you may want to shop around. This one is a "master" template, which will give you a broad range of ellipse degrees and sizes (this one ranges between 0.25 inches and 1.5 inches), and is a good place to start. You may end up finding that this range limits the kinds of ellipses you draw, forcing you to work within those bounds, but it may still be worth it as full sets of ellipse guides can run you quite a bit more, simply due to the sizes and degrees that need to be covered.

No matter which brand of ellipse guide you decide to pick up, make sure they have little markings for the minor axes.
